The Hai Duong Department of Education and Training has just issued a document announcing that the third subject of the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year is English.

Immediately after the Ministry of Education and Training issued the regulations on admission to secondary and high schools, Ho Chi Minh City was the first locality to announce the third subject, the chosen subject being English. Meanwhile, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that it would take more time to research, consider and submit to the City People's Committee a decision on the third subject as well as the admission plan for grade 10 next school year.
The Ministry of Education and Training has also recently sent a document to the Departments of Education and Training, requesting that they select and soon announce the third subject or exam for grade 10 according to regulations to facilitate students in completing the program and reviewing, preparing well for the conditions, creating a mindset of readiness to take the exam and achieving good results.
The regulations on admission to junior high school and high school issued together with Circular No. 30 issued on December 30, 2024 by the Minister of Education and Training, the entrance examination method for grade 10 high school includes 3 subjects and tests. Of which, the two fixed subjects are math and literature and a third subject or test is selected by the Department of Education and Training.
Notably, according to the regulations, the third exam subject is selected from among the subjects that are evaluated by scores in the generaleducation program at the secondary level, ensuring that the same third exam subject is not selected for more than 3 consecutive years. The third exam subject or the combined exam of a number of subjects is announced after the end of the first semester but no later than March 31 every year.
The third exam is a combination exam of a number of subjects selected from among the subjects assessed by scores in the secondary school general education program.
For high schools under the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, colleges, and research institutes that organize their own entrance exams, the third exam subject or a combination exam of a number of remaining subjects will be selected directly by the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, colleges, and research institutes.
