On the afternoon of June 12, Mr. Ha Xuan Nham, Head of the Secondary Education Department, Hanoi Department of Education and Training, informed that after the review and verification process, the Department's Examination Council concluded that "the exam questions had no errors in content, but some questions were blurred due to unclear printing and broken hyphens, causing candidates to misunderstand".

To ensure the rights of candidates, the Department of Education and Training requires the Examination Council to provide additional answers in cases where the questions are wrongly printed due to unclear ink. Thus, candidates who misunderstand the exam questions will still be graded and their answers will be accepted if correct.

Mr. Pham Quoc Toan, Head of Quality Management Department, Department of Education and Training, shared that this year's 10th grade entrance exam was successfully implemented. During the exam, the Department did not receive any information about errors in the Math exam or other subjects.

However, after the math exam ended yesterday afternoon, the Department received feedback from parents about the error. Immediately upon receiving the information, the Department of Education and Training began reviewing all 201 exam sites, the process of creating and printing exam questions to find the cause. "All procedures for printing and creating exam questions in the quarantine area were in accordance with exam regulations," said Mr. Toan.

On the same morning, 36 parents of students went to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to submit a petition related to the issue of the math exam for public grade 10 yesterday (June 11) being printed blurry, leading to candidates doing the test wrong (the dash was broken in the fraction 2/x-3, causing candidates to understand it as -(2/x-3).

The test paper has a blurred dash, causing candidates to mistake it for a minus sign (left) and the standard test paper of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (right).

Yesterday, after candidates completed the Math exam - the final exam for admission to public 10th grade, many parents and candidates were upset and complained that the 10th grade Math exam was blurred and printed in poor quality, causing students to misunderstand, get the questions wrong, and lose points.

In question 3, point 1 requires candidates to solve the equation. Because the ink is not clear, the dash is broken, causing students to mistakenly see it as -2. Some exam sites reported to have this phenomenon include Tran Dang Ninh Secondary School, Nguyen Van Cu High School, Yen Thuong Secondary School, Duong Xa High School, Dan Phuong High School, and Quang Trung - Dong Da High School.

The test paper had a blurred dash, causing candidates to mistake it for a minus sign (left) and a standard test (right). The information was quickly shared on many educational forums. This morning (June 12), many parents went to the Department of Education and Training to complain about the incident.

On June 10-11, 104,000 students in Hanoi completed three exams in Literature, Foreign Language and Mathematics to enter grade 10 of public high schools (mass). With a target of about 72,000, the admission rate is 66.5%. The admission score is the sum of Literature and Mathematics scores multiplied by two, along with the Foreign Language score and priority points (if any).

This year’s Hanoi public 10th grade exam scores and benchmark scores will be announced on July 4 and July 8-9. If admitted, students will enroll online. From July 18, schools that do not have enough enrollment quotas will begin to consider additional enrollment.
