The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City takes place on June 6-7. Candidates will take three exams: Math, Literature (120 minutes), Foreign Language (90 minutes) and the specialized exam (150 minutes). The admission score is the total score of the four exams, in which the specialized subject has a coefficient of 2, the rest have a coefficient of 1.
To be considered for admission, candidates must complete all exams, not violate the exam regulations during the entrance exam, and the scores of the exams must be greater than 2. For students who register with 2 priority wishes for specialized classes, Ho Chi Minh City stipulates the order of priority from high to low. If a candidate is admitted to a wish, he/she will study that wish and cannot change.
Depending on the actual application situation at specialized high schools, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will consider and decide on organizing additional specialized entrance exams after the end of the 10th grade school year.
If they do not pass or do not apply to specialized schools, students graduating from junior high school in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City can still participate in the admission exam to grade 10 according to their 3 wishes to enter public high schools. The admission score for the general system is the total score of three subjects: Math, Literature, English, plus incentive and priority points (if any).
This year, the city has about 90,000 ninth graders graduating from junior high school, down more than 25,000 from last year. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the public tenth grade pass rate is expected to be at least 70% of the total number of candidates.
