Ha Giang: Heavy rain, landslides bury many houses and vehicles

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and floods from September 27 to noon on September 29 caused severe damage to people and property in Bac Quang district, Ha Giang province.

Mr. Tran Minh Huu, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Quang district (Ha Giang), informed that heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and floods from September 27 to noon on September 29 caused severe damage to people and property of the people here.

Specifically, the flood swept away Ms. VTX, born in 1970, in Thuong My village, Viet Vinh commune.

In Dong Tam commune, heavy rain led to a landslide, burying the kitchen of Mr. Mai Ngoc Thang's family in Ban Buot village.

Currently, MTCh (5th grade student), a relative of Mr. Mai Ngoc Thang, has not been able to escape. Authorities are approaching the scene to search.

According to a quick report from Bac Quang district, the floods caused dozens of houses in Viet Vinh and Dong Tam communes to collapse. Dozens of hectares of rice fields in Kim Ngoc, Huu San, and Viet Nam communes were severely affected. Hundreds of poultry belonging to people in Thuong Binh and Viet Vinh communes were swept away by the floods.

High floods caused overflows and high banks to break, causing damage to aquaculture households in Kim Ngoc, Viet Vinh and Lien Hiep communes.

Floods also seriously affected traffic. Currently, on National Highway 2 from Ha Giang city to Tuyen Quang, section Km51 through Viet Vinh commune, the flood has submerged the road about 1 meter deep, causing traffic jams.

In particular, heavy rain from the night of September 28 to noon of September 29 caused serious landslides and flash floods in Bac Quang district.

At around 10am on September 29, thousands of cubic metres of rock and soil from the embankment on National Highway 2 through Viet Vinh commune collapsed, spilling onto the road, burying several cars traveling on the road...

Initial estimates show that floods caused over 2.5 billion VND in damage to Bac Quang district.

Immediately after receiving the information, Ha Giang Provincial Police mobilized all forces and vehicles to quickly go to Viet Vinh commune, Bac Quang district to help people evacuate from the landslide area.

At the same time, closely coordinate with Bac Quang District Police and local units to help local authorities and people respond, overcome consequences and search and rescue./.
