In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Italian Organic Week in Vietnam event is taking place from October 23 to November 1. The event provides an opportunity for Vietnamese consumers and retailers to access quality products that meet European organic standards from Italy and Poland, aiming for a green and sustainable consumption lifestyle.
During Italian Organic Week in Vietnam, more than 100 diverse organic food products will be displayed at major points of sale, specializing in organic products that meet international standards.
Sharing about Italy's organic agriculture and organic product production with the press recently, Mr. Ricardo Cozzo, President of Bioagricoop Organization (Italy) said that Italy is a country with a long history in organic agriculture and organic product production.
The Italian government has implemented a series of incentive programs to encourage farmers to switch from conventional to organic agriculture. In addition, there are many organizations and associations promoting the production and consumption of organic products in Italy.
According to Ms. Phan Thuy Linh, CEO of Phan Nguyen Investment, Trade and Import-Export Company Limited (a manufacturer, importer and distributor of organic products in Vietnam - PV), the demand for organic agricultural products in Vietnam is on the rise.
However, the demand for organic agricultural products in Vietnam is still small compared to many developed countries. The price of organic products is often higher than that of conventional products, which may limit some low-income consumers.
Special attention should be paid to product branding.
Agriculture is considered the "pillar" of the economy. According to Ms. Linh, in the coming time, in order to develop sustainably, organic agriculture needs to be supported by commitment and investment from the Government, international organizations, and businesses.
Governments and organizations can provide financial support and establish favorable policies to encourage farmers to convert from conventional to organic farming.
In addition, it is necessary to build an effective supply system, including connecting farmers with consumer markets and distribution systems. This helps farmers access consumption channels more effectively.
Some agricultural experts believe that special attention should be paid to building a reputable brand for Vietnamese organic products. Better access to domestic and international markets is an important opportunity to increase the commercial value of organic products, creating higher income for farmers.
Sharing his experience in achieving success in the production, distribution and consumption of organic agricultural products in Italy, Mr. Ricardo Cozzo said: First of all, the Government and local authorities have focused on and strongly supported this sector from financial and legal issues. Farmers are provided with systematic education and training on organic agricultural methods to be able to convert and manage organic production systems.
The organic agricultural production process in Italy focuses on quality and environmental protection with strict standards. Italy also focuses on building a brand and reputation in producing high-quality organic food.
"But it should also be noted that the development of organic agriculture does not come easily step by step. It requires long-term commitment and investment from farmers, the Government and stakeholders," Mr. Ricardo Cozzo emphasized.
During the Italian Organic Week in Vietnam, more than 100 diverse organic food products including pasta, pasta sauce, cereals, cheese, juices, baby foods... from prestigious Italian and Polish brands such as BARTOLINI, BIO PLANET, BIO JUNIOR, GERMINAL, SIMA BIO, CERRETO, GRANDA TRADIZIONI, BIO ORTO, KORAD GARDEN, KUPIEC will be displayed at major points of sale, specializing in organic products that meet international standards.
