In the end, the Vietnamese kickboxing team won 5 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 6 bronze medals, ranking 7th in the tournament. This year's champion was host Thailand with 36 gold medals, 52 silver medals and 73 bronze medals. President of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation - Dr. Vu Duc Thinh said that the Vietnamese boxers competing in the tournament all had good results, showing remarkable progress and careful preparation for the tournament. This tournament is also to review, prepare forces and scout opponents for Vietnamese Kickboxing at the 33rd SEA Games, held in Thailand later this year.
“This tournament is not only an opportunity for our boxers to learn and compete against the world’s big opponents, but also an opportunity for us to observe our opponents at the upcoming SEA Games. Through the tournament, we have also had an assessment of the main opponents of Vietnamese Kickboxing at the 33rd SEA Games such as the Philippines or Thailand,” said Mr. Vu Duc Thinh.
Notably, at this tournament, the President of the Asian Kickboxing Federation - Mr. Nasser Nassiri awarded boxer Luong Van Den the gold medal at the 2024 Asian Kickboxing Championship, held in Cambodia. The reason Luong Van Den was promoted from silver medal to gold medal was because the Uzbek gold medalist was found positive for doping. This is also great news for Vietnamese kickboxing.
