Helping women develop economically

Thanks to access to preferential loans, Ms. Chu Thi Ha, Zone 8, Dong Xuan Commune, Thanh Ba District, has developed a livestock model, providing a stable income.

Build many typical models

Coming to Dong Xuan commune, Thanh Ba district, we had the opportunity to visit the tea growing and livestock raising model of Ms. Chu Thi Ha's family to see the significance of the specific work that the Women's Union has created conditions for and supported her family in economic development. It is known that Ms. Ha's family's economy previously only relied on a few fields, so life was still difficult. In 2019, with the desire to escape poverty, knowing that the Women's Union had many forms of helping members develop the economy, she boldly registered for a loan and was supported by the Union with a loan of 50 million VND from the preferential loan capital of the Social Policy Bank (SBP) of the district managed by the Women's Union of the commune to expand the family's tea growing area.

Talking to us, Ms. Ha said: “When we first planted tea trees, my family planted a small amount on a trial basis. After a while, seeing that the tea trees were growing well, my family boldly borrowed capital to expand the tea growing area. Up to now, my family's tea growing area is more than 3,600m2 . In addition, the family also develops the economy from raising fish and chickens, earning over 100 million VND each year. Thanks to that, the family's life has changed significantly, and the economy is becoming more and more stable.”

The Women's Union of Van Lung Commune, Phu Tho Town is also considered one of the Union's bases that has implemented many typical economic solutions and models to support and help female members, especially poor and single members, to build economic models, bringing high efficiency. Among them, the "Revolving loan for breeding" model was established by the Women's Union of the commune in 2013 with the form of helping members and women who have difficulty with capital and need to borrow breeding chickens to develop the economy in livestock farming. Initially, when it was first established, only a few households registered to borrow, after a while, women and members realized that this model was very effective, no need to invest capital at first, just need to register the number of breeding chickens to raise, within 6 months when selling chickens, members must return the initial amount of registered breeding chickens, without interest, so many members registered to participate. From 2020 to present, the Association has lent over 10,000 chickens, with each household borrowing an average of 50 - 500 chickens.

Hoang Thi Na's family in An Ninh Ha area is one of the households that has risen to develop and stabilize the family economy from the "Revolving Breeding Loan" model. She shared: "When the Women's Union established the "Revolving Breeding Loan" model, I boldly borrowed chickens to raise. During the time of raising chickens, I participated in training courses on livestock and poultry raising and care techniques organized by the Union, so I accumulated a lot of experience. After that, I decided to invest in barns, borrowing 300 - 500 chickens at a time to expand and develop the scale further. Up to now, my family has registered for loans 8 times and paid the capital on time."

Up to now, the Association at all levels has effectively managed entrusted loan sources with a total outstanding loan balance of over VND 1,900 billion for over 47,000 members and women; coordinated vocational training for 1,942 female workers, after training, over 1,400 people were introduced and self-employed. Thanks to that, in 2023, the Association at all levels helped 2,030 households reduce poverty, of which 878 households escaped poverty.

Thanks to the support from the Women's Union at all levels in all aspects, from capital, knowledge to plants and seeds, many members and women in the province have boldly developed household economy, participated in groups, cooperatives, cooperative groups... to develop production, create jobs, stable income, thereby promoting the role of women in economic development and building family life.
