Chi Lang: Joining hands to harden rural roads - Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station

- In the first quarter of 2025, the entire Chi Lang district has solidified 14.3 km of rural roads, reaching 57.2% of the annual plan, accounting for 37.8% of the total length of rural roads that 11 districts and cities in the province have solidified in the first 3 months of 2025.

In the first quarter of 2025, Bang Huu commune, Chi Lang district is the leading unit of Chi Lang district in implementing the movement to harden rural roads in the form of State support and people joining hands to implement.

Mr. Hoang Van Trung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Bang Huu is a particularly difficult commune of Chi Lang district. If we want to improve people's lives, the task of developing essential infrastructure, focusing on traffic infrastructure, must be one step ahead. Clearly defining the goals and tasks, by 2025, the commune strives to solidify 6.2 km of rural roads. To implement the plan, the commune has focused on propaganda to people in villages and hamlets; coordinating with relevant units to effectively carry out mass mobilization work.

With the strong direction of the Commune People's Committee and the response of the people, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, the whole commune had solidified nearly 4.7/6.2 km of village roads, alleys and inner fields, using up more than 530 tons of cement provided by the District People's Committee; people donated 1,200 m2 of land to open roads and contributed 400 million VND in cash.

In addition to Bang Huu commune, in the first quarter of 2025, Hoa Binh commune is also a unit with a movement to harden rural roads with positive results. Accordingly, in 2025, the commune will develop a plan to harden 2 km of rural roads. To achieve the set goal, from the end of 2024, the commune has directed villages to develop plans, register cement needs and take the initiative in terms of land and materials for the commune to accept before providing cement.

By the end of the first quarter of 2025, Hoa Binh commune had built 960 m of new rural roads, equivalent to 48% of the annual plan; the people contributed 110 million VND to buy road construction materials. Carrying out the task of the second quarter of 2025, up to this point, 3 villages have prepared land and materials to build an additional 1.1 km; it is expected that the people will contribute about 254 million VND to buy road construction materials and use up 160 tons of cement provided by the State.

According to the report of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Chi Lang district, in January 2025, the department advised the District People's Committee to allocate 2.1 thousand tons of cement to 20 communes and towns in the district. By the end of March 2025, the District People's Committee had allocated more than 1.9 thousand tons of cement to 19/20 communes and towns to implement road construction. Thereby, 19 communes and towns have solidified 14.31 km of rural roads of all kinds, of which 547 m of commune roads have been solidified; 12.05 km of village and alley roads have been solidified and more than 1.7 km of intra-field roads have been solidified. To build roads, the communes and towns have mobilized more than 14 thousand working days and contributed cash to buy materials and rent machinery for more than 4.1 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Head of the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Department of Chi Lang district, said: In 2025, the district will focus on prioritizing resources to harden rural roads to support people in developing production. Therefore, from the beginning of the year, the department has proactively advised the District People's Committee to purchase the first batch of cement to supply to communes according to registration. To complete the goal of hardening 25 km of rural roads in 2025, the department has completed reviewing the cement needs of units; advised the District People's Committee to purchase the second batch of cement and supply it to communes in the second quarter of 2025 with a volume of about 1,800 tons.

Promoting the achieved results, Chi Lang district is continuing to mobilize maximum resources, promote internal strength, strengthen propaganda, and mobilize people to proactively create land, contribute labor to build rural roads, intra-field roads associated with new rural construction, striving to complete the set plan in the second quarter of 2025. Thereby creating favorable conditions for people to travel, develop production, improve living standards and create a new look for rural areas of Chi Lang district.
