In the second quarter of 2024, the political security situation and social order and safety in the province will continue to be maintained. Investigation, prosecution, trial, and settlement of criminal, administrative, civil, family, and commercial cases... will be ensured in accordance with the law; no wrongful convictions will occur.
The management of detention, custody and execution of sentences, the fight against crime and law violations in all fields are carried out in accordance with the provisions of law. The investigation agency has initiated 38 new cases/58 defendants (a decrease of 23 cases/45 defendants compared to the first quarter of 2024).
The whole province discovered and arrested 14 cases of "Illegal possession of narcotics"; 1 case of "Organizing illegal use of narcotics"; 3 cases of "Illegal transportation of narcotics"; 2 cases of "Illegal buying and selling of narcotics" and 1 case of "Organizing illegal use of narcotics".
The investigation agency has prosecuted 35 cases/54 defendants (a decrease of 23 cases/23 defendants compared to the first quarter of 2024), arrested 6 cases/10 subjects for acts of illegal buying, selling, transporting, and storing of drugs, seized 47,600 synthetic drug pills, 99 kg of crystalline synthetic drugs; prosecuted 36 cases/50 defendants for crimes, violations of laws on economic management order, corruption, positions, environment; information technology, telecommunications networks (a decrease of 54 cases/55 defendants compared to the first quarter of 2024)...
The two-level police investigation agencies have coordinated with the People's Procuracy at the same level to effectively handle criminal information sources; arrest, detain, temporarily detain, investigate, and handle crimes. For particularly serious and complicated cases that are of public interest, the inter-agency investigation agency, the People's Procuracy, and the Provincial People's Court all hold meetings and report to the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee to have an accurate handling direction, serving the requirements of local political tasks.
The rate of resolving crime information sources is quite high, especially information sources on crimes that violate social order. The progress and results of a number of serious, complicated cases that the public is interested in investigated by the Provincial Police Investigation Agency are ensured according to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
At the conference, delegates reported on some difficulties that need attention at the units such as: at Nghia An Prison, some facilities serving the supervision, management, and education of prisoners are degraded, not yet built synchronously, so they do not meet the requirements of managing and detaining prisoners. Smuggling and illegal transportation of drugs and goods across the border are becoming more and more complicated and sophisticated.
The coordination between relevant agencies in the process of organizing the execution of sentences is sometimes not timely and smooth, the viewpoints on applying the law are not unified, leading to difficulties and prolongation in the process of organizing the execution. The budget for implementing the work of executing criminal sentences and reintegrating into the community is still limited...
Concluding the conference, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee Ly Kieu Van emphasized: Next July, the province will host many major events, especially the Peace Festival, which will be held for the first time in Quang Tri.
Therefore, provincial coordinating agencies need to further strengthen coordination in the fight against violations and crimes, especially economic crimes, drug crimes, property violations, high-tech crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, etc., contributing to maintaining security, order and social safety.
Coordinate to speed up the resolution of cases and incidents of public concern under the direction of the Provincial Party Standing Committee. If there are any difficulties or problems during the handling process, promptly report to the Provincial Party Standing Committee for guidance.
Focus on organizing the effective implementation of Directive No. 33-CT/TU, dated September 20, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee on Strengthening the leadership of Party committees in crime prevention, law violations and execution of judgments in the province. Coordinate and review the coordination regulations between coordinating agencies for appropriate adjustments.
