The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is like a miracle, helping many people in Soc Trang realize their dream of having a solid house, no longer afraid of storms. On December 13, rain and storms occurred in My Binh and My Quoi communes, Soc Trang province, causing damage to 64 houses. Of these, 15 houses collapsed completely, 49 houses had their roofs blown off or damaged, three people were injured, and many trees in the area were broken, obstructing traffic. The police and local authorities mobilized forces to the scene to support people in overcoming the consequences. According to the People's Committee of Nga Nam town, Soc Trang province, the tornado caused a total damage of more than 2.6 billion VND. In the immediate future, the authorities will support households whose houses were completely collapsed with 5 million VND and 2 million VND for those whose houses had their roofs blown off or were damaged. Just 2 days before, the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang province held a launching ceremony and groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of houses for meritorious people, poor households, near-poor households and ethnic minorities in the province, as part of the Government's nationwide program to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. " The nights when I dare not sleep for fear that when I open my eyes, there will be nothing left" Immediately after the Government and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized the Program to launch support for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide with the theme "Warm home for my compatriots", in October, on social networks appeared a touching post from a native of Soc Trang province who used to live in a dilapidated house, always worried about being swept away by flood waters every time a storm came. “During the storms and floods, my mother stayed up all night, not daring to sleep for a second, for fear that when she opened her eyes, there would be nothing left… Living in a coastal area, with storms and floods all year round, I was often afraid that my family’s small house would be swept away by storms and floods at any moment,” the article said. The article said that thanks to the care and support of the locality, the family finally had a solid house, “so my mother could work with peace of mind, and my two sisters could study with peace of mind .” “But I know that there are still many people who have to live in makeshift houses, not knowing what will happen tomorrow. The other day, I sat watching the live TV program “A Warm Home for My People” and was deeply moved, and even more moved when I saw that my hometown Soc Trang was also given these special favors,” the article said .
