(NLDO) – World gold prices and the USD both fell sharply, but the prices of SJC gold bars and gold rings remained high at nearly 93 million VND/tael.
On the morning of March 7, recorded at 9:30 am, domestic gold prices were still hot when SJC gold bars from "big guys" such as SJC, PNJ, DOJI held around the threshold of 90.7 million VND/tael for buying and 92.7 million VND/tael for selling, unchanged from the end of yesterday. This is the highest level in the past 3 weeks, only a short distance from the historical peak of 93.1 million VND (mid-February).
Gold rings and 99.99 gold jewelry are not to be outdone, anchored firmly at the peak of 90.7 million VND/tael for buying and 92.6 million VND/tael for selling. In particular, the price of gold rings is standing proudly at the highest peak of all time!

The biggest surprise was that gold bars from other brands dramatically surpassed SJC. For example, Bao Tin Minh Chau "played it cool" by listing Thang Long Dragon Gold bars at 91.6 million VND/tael for buying and 93.1 million VND/tael for selling - 400,000 VND/tael higher than SJC. Not only that, the company's plain gold rings also reached 93.1 million VND/tael, while PNJ pushed gold rings up to 92.9 million VND/tael, and Mi Hong was not far behind with 92.5 million VND/tael.
In the free market, small gold shops "play differently", quoting slightly lower SJC gold bar prices, 91.5 million VND/tael for buying, 92.3 million VND/tael for selling.
Domestic gold prices are still "hot" in the highlands, despite world gold prices sliding to near the $2,900/ounce mark.
Specifically, at 9:00 a.m. (Vietnam time), international gold was trading at 2,903 USD/ounce, "evaporating" tens of USD compared to yesterday. Last night, the gold price plunged to a bottom of 2,890 USD/ounce before rebounding dramatically.
The gold rush has been further fueled by the US dollar's dramatic decline, hitting its lowest point since November last year, with the US dollar index languishing at 104.1 points – down more than 3% in just a few days.
Analysts say gold is "torn" around the $2,900/ounce range, waiting for a boost from US economic news.
Converted to Vietnamese currency, the world gold price is currently only about 89.9 million VND/tael - a number that makes domestic gold even more "outstanding" in this financial storm!
