The State Bank announced the central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD in today's trading session (February 3) at 24,325 VND/USD, unchanged from the listed rate in the trading session before the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025.

With a margin of 5%, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling rate of VND25,541/USD and a floor rate of VND23,109/USD.

Meanwhile, the reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam is still maintained around 23,400-25,450 VND/USD (buy - sell).

At commercial banks, USD prices were adjusted to increase sharply in both buying and selling directions.

Specifically, this afternoon, Vietcombank raised the USD cash buying price to 25,110 VND/USD, selling price to 25,500 VND/USD, an increase of 340 VND in buying price and 300 VND in selling price compared to the closing price in the trading session before the Lunar New Year holiday (January 24).

USD prices at other banks also increased sharply.

Compared to the trading session before the Lunar New Year holiday, the USD price at BIDV this afternoon increased by 180 VND in both buying and selling prices, bringing the buying and selling prices to 25,140-25,500 VND/USD.

This afternoon, VietinBank also raised the USD buying and selling prices to 25,143-25,503 VND/USD, an increase of 185 VND in both directions.

USD prices at private commercial banks were also adjusted to increase very quickly.

Techcombank increased 230 VND in buying price and 205 VND more expensive in selling price, listed USD cash buying price at 25,117 VND/USD, selling price at 25,520 VND/USD.

Sacombank also raised the USD price to 25,080-25,480 VND/USD (buy - sell), 160 VND more expensive for buying and 130 VND more expensive for selling.

USD price in the free market today fluctuated little, buying and selling in the price range of 25,450-25,550 VND/USD, unchanged from the previous session.

Currently, the selling price of USD at banks is almost equal to the free market price, while the buying price of USD at banks is only about 300 VND lower.

In the world market, the USD price increased quite strongly today. The US Dollar Index (a measure of the strength of the greenback compared to other major currencies) at 4:22 p.m. on February 3 (Vietnam time) was at 109.48 points, up 1.02% compared to the previous session.

The world USD price increased sharply after the White House announced new tariffs that US President Donald Trump applied to China, Canada and Mexico.

Over the weekend, Mr. Trump announced a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico. In addition, the US also imposed a 10% tariff on China.
