Transfer statistics site Transfermarkt has calculated the squad values of the teams participating in the 2023 Asian Cup. Accordingly, the Vietnamese team is valued at 6.33 million euros (about 169 billion VND), ranking 22nd out of 24 teams participating in the tournament.
Coach Philippe Troussier's team's squad is valued at just over two teams participating in the 2023 Asian Cup, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong (both priced at 6.25 million euros).
Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip is the most expensive player in the Vietnam national team.
The most valuable team at the 2023 Asian Cup is the Japanese team, with a valuation of 316.95 million euros. This is an understandable number, because coach Hajime Moriyasu owns many good players in the squad such as Wataru Endo (Liverpool), Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton & Hove Albion) or Ko Itakura (Borussia Monchengladbach).
20 of the 26 Japanese players called up are playing in Europe, most of them are starting players and leaving their mark professionally. The Japanese team is also in "destructive" form with 9 wins in a row, scoring 39 goals. This is an extremely strong opponent that the Vietnamese team will have to face in the group stage of the 2023 Asian Cup on January 14.
The second and third most valuable teams at the 2023 Asian Cup are South Korea (193 million euros) and Iran (51.58 million euros) respectively.
Thus, the total value of the Korean and Iranian squads combined is still not equal to Japan's. This is understandable because although Korea has superstars Son Heung-min, Hwang Hee-chan or Kim Min-jae, the remaining players have not played well in European clubs.
