According to the draw results this afternoon (March 27) of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Vietnamese team is in the same group as Guam, UAE and Maldives in the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers. All three opponents are weak teams. The Vietnamese team is expected to win the top spot in the group and participate in the final round.
In the latest FIFA rankings, Guam is ranked 96th. Meanwhile, the UAE and Maldives women's teams are both outside the world's top 100. The Vietnam team is currently ranked 37th (6th in Asia, behind only the strongest teams in the rest: Japan, Korea, Australia, China and Korea).

The 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers will feature 34 teams divided into eight groups. The group winners will qualify for the finals, along with host Australia, China, South Korea and Japan (the top three teams from the 2022 Asian Cup will be exempted from qualifying).
The Vietnamese team is the host of Group E. This makes the advantage of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team even greater. The 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers start on June 23. The final round of matches ends on July 5.
According to the order of the draw, the Vietnamese team will face Maldives, UAE and then Guam.
