Today's live pig price in the North is around 49,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

* Pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions remained stable across the board.

Of which, the lowest transaction price is 48,000 VND/kg, continuing to be present in Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Dak Lak and Binh Thuan.

Live pigs in Quang Binh and Quang Ngai are being purchased at the highest price of 50,000 VND/kg. The remaining provinces maintain stable live pig prices at 49,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs decreased by VND 1,000/kg in Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc provinces to VND 47,000/kg and VND 48,000/kg, respectively.

The remaining provinces and cities did not record any new changes.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 48,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

* Mr. Nguyen Kim Doan, Vice President of Dong Nai Livestock Association, said that the above selling price is causing farmers to lose an average of about 5,000 VND/kg of live pigs sold, and even lose everything if the farm is affected by an epidemic.

He affirmed: "Although the price of bran has cooled down, the selling price of around 50,000 VND/kg has lasted for many months, along with the complicated developments of African swine fever, so farmers are suffering losses on top of losses."

However, according to many people, the retail price of pork at many stores and supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City has not decreased much, even remaining at a high level.

A representative of Vissan Company said that since October 8, the selling price of pork under price stabilization has decreased with pork shoulder at 124,000 VND/kg, armpit meat at 125,000 VND/kg, lean meat (thigh, shoulder) at 155,000 VND/kg, ham hock at 115,000 VND/kg... Only items such as pork belly and pork ribs have not decreased.

However, this representative said that for many months, the company has been running promotions of 20-25% on retail pork on online and offline channels... The unit has continuously reduced prices to stimulate purchasing power, but currently, the purchasing power of fresh goods has decreased by 30% compared to stable times.
