DNVN - On November 7, 2024, the price of live pigs continued to increase in the Northern and North Central regions, with some localities recording the highest price of 64,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in the North

Pig price on November 5, 2024: Slight increase again

A new report shows that the price of live pigs in the North has increased by VND1,000/kg, currently ranging from VND62,000 - 64,000/kg.

In Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Thai Nguyen provinces, the price of live pigs has reached a high of 64,000 VND/kg after a slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces in this region have no new price changes.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region also recorded an increase of VND 1,000/kg, with purchase prices ranging from VND 58,000 to VND 63,000/kg.

Pig prices in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have increased slightly, reaching the highest level in the region at 63,000 VND/kg.

Along with the above adjustment, the price of live pigs in Ha Tinh also recorded 62,000 VND/kg, equal to the price in Quang Binh.

In other localities, pig prices were recorded as stable and without significant fluctuations.

Pig price in the South

The Southern region today kept prices stable between 60,000 and 62,000 VND/kg.

In Dong Thap and Can Tho alone, the price of live pigs was recorded at the highest level in the region at 62,000 VND/kg.

Meanwhile, the localities of Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Vung Tau, An Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang have the lowest price of 60,000 VND/kg.

According to experts, domestic pig prices are likely to continue their slight upward trend in the short term, at least until mid-November, when demand for pork for year-end production increases. However, if supply is insufficient, prices may fluctuate more strongly in the coming time.

The general forecast shows that the price of live pigs in Vietnam may maintain a steady increase due to the increasing demand for consumption during the Tet holiday. At this time, localities and consumers are also preparing for the Lunar New Year, increasing the demand for domestic pork.

Meanwhile, Vietnam still imports pork from neighboring countries to meet domestic demand, but if major exporting countries reduce production, Vietnam will need to increase domestic supply, which could keep pig prices high. Farmers can expect a positive end-of-year season, especially when the domestic pork market is still growing.

According to Yen Bai Newspaper, Luc Yen district currently owns a total herd of more than 126,000 cattle and more than 800,000 poultry. To ensure the stability and development of livestock, the district People's Committee has requested specialized agencies to coordinate with communes to propagate and guide people to implement technical livestock farming processes.

In addition, the district also recommends that livestock farmers pay attention to disease prevention measures such as cleaning barns, sprinkling lime powder, spraying disinfectants, applying a reasonable diet, and treating livestock waste to protect the environment. Since the beginning of the year, Luc Yen district has vaccinated a total of 27,641 doses of various vaccines for livestock.

Specialized agencies have coordinated with communes to count livestock, provide vaccines, disinfectants and tools for disease prevention and control, and at the same time strengthen strict control over the transportation of animals and animal products in and out of the area.

Luc Yen district is determined to strictly handle cases of trading, transporting and trading animals and animal products that do not comply with legal regulations, because this can be a source of spreading disease.
