Northern pig price

Pig price on October 20, 2024: Continuing to decline in all three regions

On the morning of October 22, the price of live pigs in the North decreased in most provinces and cities, trading in the range of 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, apart from Hai Duong, Hung Yen, and Hanoi, prices remained stable, while the remaining localities decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

It is known that Lao Cai and Ninh Binh are currently selling live pigs at the lowest price in the region at 62,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

The Central Highlands region is also going down in many localities, purchasing live pigs from 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands, after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa recorded 60,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region.

Southern pig price

After the fluctuations, the Southern region is buying and selling live pigs at around 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.

Recorded in the South, all provinces and cities this morning simultaneously decreased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, live pigs in Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Ca Mau, and Vung Tau currently cost 63,000 VND/kg, the highest in the region.

The price of live pigs continues to decrease nationwide. According to a survey, the price of live pigs nationwide fluctuates between 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg, averaging 63,300 VND/kg. The price of live pigs has decreased sharply as the source of imported pigs and smuggled pigs is quite large. The epidemic occurred in many localities, causing the number of pigs sold due to the epidemic to increase. Meanwhile, the purchasing power in the market is still quite gloomy, there are no sudden factors to promote increased consumption.

According to the Dong Nai Livestock Association, herd restoration is facing many difficulties because thousands of livestock households in the province are forced to relocate, and the requirements for reducing emissions in livestock farming have also been raised very high, making it difficult for small-scale livestock farming to meet. Although the current selling price of live pigs still brings in quite a profit, the scarcity of breeding pigs and the high prices are also the reasons why many livestock households are hesitant to restore their herds.
