Impersonating a lecturer, defrauding candidates of money for aptitude tests

On March 26, a representative of the University of Education (Hue University) said that they had sent a criminal complaint to the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police to clarify the case of someone impersonating a lecturer at the school to defraud students of money.

According to initial information, Hue University of Education previously announced the registration time for the aptitude test for admission to the school's preschool education and music education majors in 2024.

After this announcement was issued, some people impersonated school officials and lecturers to post information to deceive candidates and parents who wanted to take the exam for the above majors.

This group created a social networking page pretending to be the page posting information of Hue University of Education. On this page, the group "announced" that the registration system for the aptitude test for admission to the above majors in 2024 of the school had expired.

Candidates who want to register for the exam must contact the group directly via phone or chat. Each case wishing to register must pay the group 500,000 VND "fee".

A representative of Hue University of Education said that the school has not yet received registration documents or aptitude test fees for the 2024 admissions. Notices about registration time and aptitude test related to admission to the school's preschool education and music education majors are publicly and officially posted on the school's information portal.

"The deadline for receiving application documents is April 1, not the deadline as posted. Currently, the school has received about 3 complaints from candidates about this impersonation and fraud and has forwarded the information to the police," said a representative of Hue University of Education.
