The story told by three singers to Tuoi Tre Online on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification helps the audience understand that it is not by chance that these three singers are very successful with revolutionary music. Their fate with revolutionary music seems to have been attached to them since their birth.
"Thanks to the day of national reunification, Dad came back and we have Trong Tan"
Trong Tan's father was a special forces soldier who participated in the liberation of Saigon. After the victory on April 30, 1975, he was demobilized and returned home: "Thanks to the day of national reunification, my father returned and Trong Tan was born. If the reunification day had come later, it might have been different."
I don't know if it's because of the special relationship with April 30, 1975 that Trong Tan has become the most beloved singer in the revolutionary music genre for the past few decades.
Dang Duong was born a few months before the victory of April 30, 1975 in Hai Duong (he was born in October 1974), but April 30 is always a special occasion for him, and it makes him very emotional to mention it.
When Dang Duong was 5-7 years old, he spent all day listening to the songs that have accompanied the years on the radio and humming along.
Thanks to that, his gifted voice was discovered by a family friend, who advised him to study music professionally. Studying at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) at a very young age, he initially studied the monochord, and in 1992 he applied to switch to vocal music.
During those years, the pop music movement was very developed. In the whole school, there was only Dang Duong and one or two others who followed classical music. From then on, for more than 30 years, Dang Duong was only attached to this revolutionary music genre.
He, Trong Tan and Viet Hoan have sung many times at special locations such as Quang Tri Citadel, Hang Duong cemetery in Con Dao, Truong Son cemetery...
Almost every night of the concert here, it rained heavily before the show, but as soon as the concert started, the rain stopped. And then it rained again at the last song. Those nights left a deep impression and followed Dang Duong throughout his life.
Once, Viet Hoan was singing at Truong Son cemetery, the song " Truong Son Road, Your Car Passed" (Truong Son Road) , his tears kept flowing, he was so moved that he forgot the lyrics of the song that he had sung hundreds of thousands of times.
The red music trio Trong Tan, Dang Duong, and Viet Hoan will reunite in the live concert "The Country Values Joy" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
Viet Hoan's special April 30th
Viet Hoan will always remember a special memory on April 30, 1975, when he was 8 years old, living in Thai Binh town. That afternoon, he was playing with his friends in the yard of the apartment complex when he saw a plane flying over, dropping leaflets announcing the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
People who received these flyers shouted with joy. So did the children.
At that time, children seemed to be more mature than now, and had already felt the great losses of war, so when they heard the news of victory and peace, they were overwhelmed with joy.
From that day on, in Viet Hoan's hometown, every family celebrated. The loudspeaker continued to broadcast information about the great victory every day.
As for Viet Hoan, he had to be away from his mother for a whole month. Because his mother was an actress at the Thai Binh Province Opera Troupe at that time, and was assigned to Ho Chi Minh City to perform for people in the South.
Will sing revolutionary songs "like the old people sang"
The live concert “The Country is Full of Joy” will take place on the evening of May 24 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi, with guest singer Anh Tho. Musician Son Thach - the music director of the live concert - said this will be a “march” through music.
Three singers and guests will lead the audience in the footsteps of Uncle Ho's soldiers along the Truong Son road from North to South with music, in between are love songs by Hoang Viet, Hoang Van...
Musician Son Thach and other singers will give the audience the opportunity to listen to revolutionary songs that resemble “the music that our ancestors wrote and sang in the past” on the radio.
