On October 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that, through the media's reflection on the appearance of a Facebook page called "Infertility Treatment - Cho Ray Hospital" attracting many infertile couples to consult on IVF to welcome "dragon and phoenix twins" at a cost of 25 million VND, the Department of Health Inspectorate has stepped in to clarify and strictly handle according to regulations.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the clinic advertising infertility treatment uses the name of Cho Ray Hospital, but when contacting the phone number on this Facebook page, they are directed to 10 Tran Huy Lieu, Phu Nhuan District, which is the headquarters of An Sinh Hospital.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Health Department Inspectorate coordinated with the Internal Political Security Department (PA03) - Ho Chi Minh City Police, and the in vitro fertilization expert of Tu Du Hospital to inspect and verify the information at An Sinh General Hospital.

Upon inspection, Dr. PTT presented a certificate of practice in obstetrics and gynecology issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health in 2020, a level I specialist degree in obstetrics and gynecology issued by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and a certificate of training in reproductive support, semen analysis, and other certificates and certifications.

At the meeting, Dr. PTT affirmed that the two Facebook pages impersonating “Infertility Treatment – Cho Ray Hospital” were not created by him and that he did not visit these pages to connect patients to An Sinh Hospital for infertility examination and treatment.

Currently, the Department of Health Inspectorate continues to coordinate with competent management agencies to continue investigating and clarifying.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 6, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong invited representatives of the boards of directors of related hospitals to clarify this issue. A representative of An Sinh Hospital said that the hospital had signed a "Cooperation Contract" with this doctor, whose main job was to examine and advise patients. A representative of Van Hanh Hospital said that they had signed a "Labor Contract" with the above doctor, working 2 hours/week on Sundays with the job of examining and advising patients.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has requested these hospitals to review and re-examine compliance with regulations related to medical practitioners, check and strengthen medical examination and treatment procedures, and provide consultation for infertile people, to avoid being taken advantage of by bad guys to commit illegal acts, especially in the field of communication and advertising on social platforms.

At the same time, strengthen inspection, supervision and take legal responsibility for the activities of hospital reproductive support units licensed by the Ministry of Health, and ensure strict compliance with regulations related to reproductive support.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, in order to contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, ensuring the safety and rights of patients, the Department of Health requires hospitals that perform assisted reproductive techniques to review and update professional procedures in receiving, examining, consulting and performing assisted reproductive techniques to ensure that they are performed by the hospital's medical staff in accordance with the issued procedures.

Disseminate the process to all hospital staff, and at the same time strengthen inspection and supervision of medical staff's compliance with the process, ensuring that all personnel practicing at the hospital must be registered and updated with the management agency according to regulations.

“Recently, bad actors have created websites with interfaces similar to those of hospitals, using the names of leading specialized and general hospitals to scam people in need of assisted reproductive techniques. The Department of Health recommends that all public and private hospitals in the area proactively inspect and review to promptly detect fake websites, illegal advertisements, etc., proactively report to the Department of Health Inspectorate to coordinate with competent authorities to inspect, investigate, clarify and strictly handle according to the provisions of law,” Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong informed.

At the same time, it is recommended that when accessing advertising information on social networks, people need to carefully verify information through many different channels, especially the Department of Health's Information Lookup Portal.
