Nearly 300 athletes compete in the 2023 National Traditional Boat Racing Championship

BTO-On the morning of June 24, the 2023 National Traditional Boat Racing Championship officially kicked off at Bau Trang Lake (belonging to Bau Trang National Scenic Area), Hoa Thang Commune, Bac Binh District (Binh Thuan).

The tournament was jointly organized by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Rowing Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Thanh - President of the Vietnam Rowing Federation , Mr. Nguyen Hai Duong - Director of the Department of International Cooperation - General Department of Sports and Physical Training - Vice President of the Vietnam Rowing Federation attended the opening ceremony.

On behalf of the leaders of Binh Thuan province, Mr. Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments and branches attended the opening ceremony.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded souvenir flags to provinces and cities participating in the tournament.

This year's tournament has the participation of 288 athletes (including 126 female athletes) from 8 provinces and cities in the country: An Giang, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc and host Binh Thuan. Athletes compete in 18 events for both men and women and mixed for boats with 10 and 20 rowers; there are 3 competition distances: 1,000 m, 500 m and 200 m.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Bui The Nhan - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan said: The 2023 National Traditional Boat Racing Championship was held in a joyful and exciting atmosphere, responding to the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", with the enthusiastic participation of strong Traditional Boat Racing teams across the country. This is a sporting event of national nature and scale. This is a sporting event jointly organized by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Boat Racing Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan. Coming to this tournament, the athletes not only demonstrated the spirit of solidarity, exchanged experiences and contributed their talents, but also learned and understood more about the natural landscapes, famous landscapes , famous tourist areas, and unique cultural features of Mui Ne - Phan Thiet of the homeland and people of Binh Thuan.
