Nearly 150 players compete in the 2025 National Go Tournament

The 2025 National Go Championship and National Youth Go Championship for the Hansoll Textile Cup will be held at the First Hotel (Tan Binh, Ho Chi Minh City). The tournament will take place from April 1 to April 8, 2025.

This year there will be three main competitions: blitz, rapid and standard chess for male and female players and age groups U11, U16 and U20.

The tournament attracted nearly 150 athletes from Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Kien Giang and Hoa Phuong Do Club. The tournament was organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Vietnam Chess Federation, attracting the top Go players in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Chess Federation: "Vietnamese Go has developed strongly in recent times, and made a clear mark on the international stage. This year's tournament will help find more excellent players to compete internationally, and at the same time hope to spread Go more widely in Vietnam."

However, according to Mr. Thang, Vietnamese Go still has a certain gap with leading countries such as China, Japan and Korea. Therefore, our chance to compete in the Asian or world arena cannot be expected immediately.
