DNVN - According to the Financial Times, on December 10, the European Union (EU) regulatory agency launched an investigation into a secret advertising agreement between Google and Meta. The EU suspects that this agreement may violate the organization's regulations.
As part of the deal, Meta will receive Google support to promote Instagram through YouTube advertising campaigns targeting young people. EU officials are now asking Google for internal data to determine whether further regulatory measures are needed.
In October, Alphabet, Google's parent company, received a request from EU regulators to review all data, presentations, emails and internal communications related to its advertising campaigns. The information, which is part of Google's internal investigation codenamed "Tangerine Owl," was sent to EU officials for review.
“The safeguards we have in place to protect young people, like prohibiting ad personalization, are industry-leading and continue to work,” Google said, adding that it has improved internal training for sales teams to ensure compliance with policies and technical safeguards.
