Approval for construction of over 430 billion bridge connecting Bac Lieu and Kien Giang

On February 20, at the 23rd session, the People's Council of Bac Lieu province agreed in principle to assign the People's Committee of this province as the competent authority to implement the Ba Dinh bridge construction project connecting Bac Lieu and Kien Giang provinces.

According to the design, Ba Dinh Bridge is 15m wide and 320m long. Of which, the bridge and approach road on the Bac Lieu side is about 233m long and the Kien Giang side is about 183m long. The total investment of the project is expected to be more than 434 billion VND, from the central budget under the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 and the period 2026-2030. The project implementation period is 2025-2028.

Bac Lieu province shall pay for the land clearance costs of Bac Lieu province and investment preparation costs; Kien Giang province's budget shall pay for the land clearance costs of Kien Giang province.

According to the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province, the investment in the construction of Ba Dinh bridge connecting Bac Lieu province with Kien Giang and putting it into operation will effectively promote the project to build the road from Phuoc Long town to Ba Dinh, Hong Dan district. From there, it will contribute to strongly promoting the economic, cultural, social development, ensuring security and defense of the two provinces.

Along with that, it creates a vital inter-regional traffic axis that effectively serves the circulation, transit of goods, economic, cultural and social development, ensuring national defense and security of Bac Lieu and provinces in the Mekong Delta through the Ho Chi Minh road section Go Quao - Vinh Thuan and the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.
