On December 7, Bach Viet Polytechnic College held a graduation ceremony, awarding degrees to 589 students. Hoang Van Tu, a Chinese language student, was the school's valedictorian with a perfect score of 4.0.
Dare to drop out of college because it's not suitable
Before studying Chinese at Bach Viet Polytechnic College, Hoang Van Tu spent 3 years studying thermal engineering at a university.
However, after a period of studying engineering, Tu frankly admitted that his abilities were not suitable for this field of study. The 3 years of university always made Tu feel depressed, without motivation to study because he did not really love it, so his study results were not as expected.
“I feel like I’m not passionate about engineering and machinery. If I keep studying in a field that I’m not capable of, don’t really like, and don’t get good results, then even if I get a university degree, I still won’t be able to do a good job in the future,” Tu confided.
During the Covid-19 outbreak, Tu also looked back and redefined his career goals and decided to find a new direction.

The valedictorian of Bach Viet Polytechnic College shared that since he was a child, he loved Chinese when watching Chinese movies and songs. From then on, Tu decided to stop studying at university, started learning about Chinese and decided to study Chinese at Bach Viet Polytechnic College.
Tu shared that his decision to drop out of university at that time made his family sad and opposed. However, after a period of sharing and convincing his parents, his family supported Tu to pursue a new major.
When he transferred to college, Tu said he received many questions about whether he was afraid of being judged. However, Tu was always steadfast in his second choice.
“When I decided to transfer to college, I knew exactly what I needed. Where I study and what degree I get are not as important as whether I love what I do,” Tu said.
In the future, Tu said he will work to gain experience and continue studying at university to improve his qualifications.
