After 5 days in Myanmar, the rescue team of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam is still racing against time to search for victims buried in the rubble.
So far, the Vietnamese delegation, in coordination with international delegations, has brought back a total of 17 victims' bodies to their families and local authorities. Of these, the Ministry of Public Security's rescue team has independently brought out the bodies of 5 victims. At the same time, the team, in coordination with Turkish and Myanmar rescue teams, has successfully rescued one surviving victim.
Actively assisting the rescue team in searching for victims under collapsed buildings are two police dogs named Bin and King.
Bin, 7 years old, King, 6 years old, are two special soldiers of the Mobile Police Command (Ministry of Public Security). With 5-6 years of experience, these two service dogs helped the team determine the exact location of the victims deep in the rubble.
On the first day, the rescue team began searching the two collapsed apartment buildings. The scene was vast with large and heavy concrete blocks, making the rescue process difficult. Realizing the importance of accurately locating the victims, the team decided to use police dogs to assist in the search.
"Every time we drilled and dug a little bit, we used the service dogs to determine the location again. After many times, the two service dogs responded correctly to the same location, which was also the place where the young man had an accident." representative of the information delegation.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Head of the working delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, said that the two dogs effectively supported the search and rescue efforts, contributing to saving time and effort for the rescue forces.
Yesterday afternoon, after a hard search under the 40°C heat, Bin became tired and stopped eating, making the trainer very worried. During the lunch break, the trainer bathed the two dogs to help them cool down and feel more comfortable. After that, both Bin and King recovered and continued to join the rescue team in searching for the victims.
This morning, the Vietnamese international rescue team had a working session with the Disaster Management Center, Ministry of Security, Mitigation and Resettlement of Myanmar, chaired by Minister, Dr. Soe Win.
At the meeting, the Vietnamese rescue team had a frank discussion with Minister Soe Win about the situation in the past few days, as well as rescue work at the scene in the following days.
Minister Dr. Soe Win highly appreciated the support of the Vietnamese rescue team and hoped that the Vietnamese rescue team would continue to share and help Myanmar in the coming time, to support the lives of people who have lost their homes and to search for victims still trapped in the rubble.
