Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc has just received the award "Best Director of 2024" organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.
Recently, many individual artists in the Southern theater have been honored, such as artist Binh Tinh, actress Le Khanh, authors Bich Ngan, Thanh Binh, My Dung, Ky Phuong... This shows that from awards to the stage, there has been a clear change, which, according to People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc, "the gap between professionals and the public has gradually narrowed. The situation of awards being given to plays or individual artists whose works do not sell tickets has ended."
Similarly, in the North, the Army Drama Theatre left a strong impression when it won the A prize with the play "Dien Bien Wai Que". And excellent artists from many different types of theatre were honored, demonstrating the richness and diversity of contemporary theatre art.

People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, emphasized: The 2024 Stage Awards are not only a milestone in changing the perception of art units and theaters about focusing on investing in each work, but also a testament to the innovation in the approach and evaluation of the art council. That brings a new perspective on the value and role of theater in society, while affirming the commitment to constantly improve the quality of works, meeting the increasing expectations of the public.
The change in perception of the heads of art units from public to non-public is opening a new chapter for Vietnamese theater, especially in two major cities: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This innovation is through works selected from 5 professional art festivals: National Festival of theatrical works for children and teenagers; National Drama Festival; National Cai Luong Festival; Hanoi Open Theater Festival and the first Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival (spoken drama).
The participation of 94 art units with 109 plays not only reflects the sense of responsibility, creative desire and dedication of the profession but also demonstrates the commitment to overcome challenges to bring stage art closer to the audience.
The value of political drama, social psychology, and drama works all contain messages about truth - goodness - beauty. Through that, it can be seen that the innovation from the appraisal council has improved the quality of the works, putting the quality of art and the audience first. "This is not only a testament to the continuous efforts of non-public units in Ho Chi Minh City in improving the quality of art, but also demonstrates the flexibility in grasping and meeting the tastes of the audience.
