Thanh Binh Thinh is a commune with a traditional carpentry craft that is nearly 400 years old. Through many ups and downs, generations of descendants have continuously "breathed life" into wood to bring carpentry to keep pace with industrialization and modernization. The traditional craft has become a highlight, bringing the commune to the standard of a model new-style rural area with outstanding rural occupations.

Returning to Thanh Binh Thinh on a day at the end of the year, the hustle and bustle of life from Thai Yen Industrial Park is still there, but the difference is that the craft village is no longer noisy and dusty like before, but neat and tidy.

Promoting the role and responsibility of women in joining hands to build a model new-style rural commune, the Women's Union of Thanh Binh Thinh commune has launched many movements to spread awareness and arouse the responsibility of building the homeland among all the people. "Each branch has built at least 1-2 self-managed women's roads, 3-5 models of 10 adjacent households that are bright - green - clean - beautiful, contributing significantly to improving the appearance of residential areas" - said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, President of the Women's Union of Thanh Binh Thinh commune.

In Lam Trung Thuy commune, people are excited about the new spring when the locality has just received a certificate recognizing the commune as meeting the model NTM standards in the outstanding field of culture. Mr. Dinh Van Tinh (Hoa Binh village) shared: “The enjoyment of infrastructure and cultural life is the core value that the model NTM brings to the people. The traffic system is concreted and paved; many bright - green - clean - beautiful model roads are increasingly extended; the drainage system in residential areas is well-planned, in harmony with the landscape and environment”.

In the past 3 years, Lam Trung Thuy has mobilized a total of over 325 billion VND in resources to build a model new-style rural commune, of which nearly 85 billion VND was contributed by the people and children living far from home. Mr. Dinh Van Nam - Secretary of the Commune Party Committee said: "Currently, 100% of the commune, inter-commune, village and inter-village roads, along with 29/31 km of alleys, over 10 km of ditches and drainage ditches have been hardened; 12.5 km of lighting lines have been installed; 15/15 villages have solid cultural houses and village sports areas, meeting the needs of physical training and improving people's health; average income per capita has increased from 38 million VND (in 2020) to 56.7 million VND (in 2023)".

Building a new rural area is a non-stop journey in the homeland of the late General Secretary Tran Phu. By the end of 2023, Duc Tho will have 3 more communes meeting the model new rural area standards (Thanh Binh Thinh, Lam Trung Thuy, Yen Ho), 2 communes meeting the advanced new rural area standards (Truong Son, Quang Vinh); the whole district has 4 model new rural area communes, 6 advanced new rural area communes. The district has 14 more model new rural residential areas, 3 smart new rural residential areas, bringing the total to 132/155 villages and residential groups meeting the model residential areas and residential groups.

In 2023, Duc Tho people donated more than 32,000 ^m2 of land, renovated nearly 26 km of rural roads, paved more than 11 km of asphalt, more than 5 km of drainage ditches; installed nearly 26 km of lighting lines; upgraded 25 village sports areas; planted nearly 33 km of new flower beds and green fences; renovated and renovated nearly 3,600 household gardens and mixed gardens; more than 4,000 households arranged their houses neatly and tidily; installed nearly 1,000 domestic wastewater treatment tanks... In particular, Duc Tho also made its mark with 3 villages meeting the standards of smart new-style rural residential areas (Ngoc Lam village, Lam Trung Thuy commune; Binh Dinh village, Thanh Binh Thinh commune; Tien Tho village, Yen Ho commune).

The year of the Dragon has come, marking exactly one year since 24 households in Tien Phong fishing village (Quang Vinh commune) officially "came ashore" to settle down in new houses in the resettlement area. It is not only a private home for the residents of the fishing village but also has great significance as it is the crystallization of the concerns of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, the attention of former President Truong Tan Sang, provincial leaders, and businesses in realizing the construction of solid houses for people with meritorious services, poor households, and households affected by natural disasters and floods.

Former President Truong Tan Sang, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly Nguyen Thanh Binh and provincial leaders attended the inauguration ceremony and handover of 24 flood-proof houses in Tien Phong village, Quang Vinh commune.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - a resident of Tien Phong fishing village excitedly said: “The moment of returning to the new house will follow us throughout our lives and become the motivation for the villagers to take care of their business, join hands with the locality to develop the economy, and improve their lives. After 1 year of settling down, I know how to grow vegetables and raise chickens; my children no longer have to row boats to shore to earn an education. We are also fully taken care of from medical examination and treatment, support for career change, and finding jobs on shore in parallel with the traditional fishing profession”.

Mr. Khoi's joy was multiplied when this spring, Quang Vinh commune was recognized as an advanced NTM commune.

Listening to opinions and mobilizing people's strength are considered the strength in the movement to build a new rural area in Duc Tho. Up to now, the district has achieved 3/9 criteria for building an advanced new rural area, including: electricity; irrigation and disaster prevention; security, order and public administration; the remaining 6 criteria have reached 50-80%. Duc Tho is striving to achieve the standards of an advanced new rural area by the end of 2024.

With the motto "the district's battlefield is the commune, the commune's battlefield is the village/hamlet and household", Duc Tho has mobilized the entire political system to join in with high determination to complete the solid NTM criteria, gradually improving the people's lives. In the new year 2024, the district continues to propagate and mobilize people to improve the NTM criteria in a sustainable, advanced and exemplary direction. Taking the role and responsibility of the leader as the center, arousing solidarity and unity within the Party and consensus among the people, contributing to bringing Duc Tho to the standard of an advanced NTM district by the end of 2024.
