Wax coconut brings high economic efficiency to people

At the 100th Anniversary of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week of Cau Ke District in 2024, gardeners in Cau Ke District and businesses, cooperatives, and establishments producing wax coconut products will supply the domestic and international markets with about 9,000 wax coconuts, 500 wax coconut seedlings, and dozens of tons of products processed from wax coconut.

Typically, Cau Ke Wax Coconut Processing Company Limited (Vicosap) is the unit that deeply processes the most wax coconut products in Vietnam, recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization.

Mr. Tran Duy Linh - Director of the company said that the company brought to the fair all kinds of products processed by the company from wax coconut such as: Vacuum-packed wax coconut, wax coconut candy, wax coconut fiber, crispy dried wax coconut, crispy dried wax coconut yogurt, wax coconut cake, wax coconut yogurt drink...; in which, there are 9 products with 4-star OCOP certification and 1 Vicosap wax coconut fiber product with 5-star OCOP certification at the national level.

With more than 1 week of the festival, the company provided the market with over 10 tons of products, with revenue reaching 1.5 billion VND, 3 times higher than the average monthly revenue and 3 times higher than the same period of the festival in 2024.

It is worth mentioning that at the festival, the company has connected with many foreign markets to supply products processed from wax coconut; the company has signed 3 contracts to export more than 1.2 tons of wax coconut candy, dried wax coconut and wax coconut yogurt to the US market.

Tra Vinh wax coconut has been listed as one of the 50 famous fruit specialties of Vietnam since 2012; Vietnam Coconut Association recognizes "Wax coconut trees grown in Tra Vinh province as: Vietnamese coconut trees."

The product "Wax Coconut" of Tra Vinh province has just been granted a Certificate of registration of geographical indication "Tra Vinh" by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology).

Through the 100th Anniversary of Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke District, Tra Vinh Province introduced the province's potential and advantages; thereby calling for investment, along with local investment attraction policies; typically the agricultural processing sector to domestic and foreign investors.
