Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced the results of the city's tourism sector. The figures have all increased and are forecast to develop further, promoting tourism as a key economic sector.
Accordingly, international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in 3 months reached more than 1.6 million. This number increased by more than 18% compared to the figure of more than 1.3 million in 2024. In March alone, it increased by nearly 23%, jumping to nearly 600,000 arrivals. The same period last year was only at more than 480,000 arrivals.
There is growth but still "modest" compared to international visitors, in the first quarter of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City had more than 8.5 million domestic tourists, compared to the same period in 2024 with only more than 8 million. Thus, domestic tourists recorded an increase of 6.3% compared to the same period.
In total revenue for nearly 3 months, Ho Chi Minh City tourism earned 56,662 billion VND (in the first quarter of 2024, it only earned 44,710 billion VND), an increase of 26.7% over the same period in 2024; in March alone, it brought in more than 19,000 billion VND.
According to experts, Ho Chi Minh City's cultural tourism resources are rich and diverse, with great potential, which can bring competitive advantages and attract tourists.
In the context of promoting tourism as a key economic sector, as a city of events, Ho Chi Minh City has many events attracting visitors from the beginning of the year, during the year, to the year-end tourist season.
The attraction of festivals and events can be mentioned as Nguyen Hue Flower Street, Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival, Vietnamese Bread Festival, Ho Chi Minh City River Festival...
These are impressive cultural tourism products, attracting a large number of tourists, boosting tourism growth in the following quarters.
Ho Chi Minh City tourism aims to welcome 8.5 million international visitors in 2025
With this high growth rate, Ho Chi Minh City tourism has set a target of welcoming 8.5 million international visitors in 2025, an increase of more than 40% and revenue also increasing by nearly 37%, towards the figure of 260,000 billion VND.
According to experts, the goal of Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry in 2025 is considered quite ambitious and challenging in the context that regional countries such as Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia all have strong strategies to attract international visitors.
