This morning, March 28, information from the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT) of Quang Tri province said that the unit has just received an official dispatch from the Ministry of Education and Training announcing the sending of the Project "Electronic gloves converting sign language into natural language for deaf and mute people" by Tran Ngoc Long, a student of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, to participate in the International Science and Technology Fair 2024 (ISEF 2024).

Accordingly, the project "Electronic gloves converting sign language into natural language for deaf and mute people" by Tran Ngoc Long won first prize at the National Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2023-2024 school year and was selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to participate in the ISEF 2024 in person, scheduled to be held in May 2024 in the United States. The project in the field of robots and intelligent machines is among the proposed projects.
Tran Ngoc Long's project is a pair of electronic gloves that help deaf and mute people communicate in natural language with normal people through sign language conversion with many outstanding features. The product has integrated phone software to play sound and display communication content; process drifting phenomena using deep learning models to draw accurate trajectories on the IMU module; 2-way communication between normal people and deaf and mute people in both English and Vietnamese; convert separate words of sign language into a complete sentence in natural language suitable for communication.

It is known that this is the second time that Quang Tri has had a creative student project selected to compete in an international competition. Previously, in 2017, the project "Robotic arm for the disabled" by Pham Huy, a student of Quang Tri High School, also won third prize at the International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF 2017) held in the US.
