In 2019, right after Resolution 05/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council was issued on policies to support tourism construction and development, Huong Thuy developed a plan and implemented it to the grassroots level. However, from this time to the following years, the negative impact of COVID-19 has severely affected tourism in general and Huong Thuy tourism in particular. To restore tourism, especially community tourism, from 2020 to present, Huong Thuy has supported the construction of 5 new homestay facilities, upgraded 1 homestay, 5 experience products, invested in infrastructure renovation, trained tourism skills, services... with a total cost of nearly 11 billion VND.
The support and investment from the government has created excitement and determination to develop community tourism among the people. Some homestays and experience locations: Xanh Homestay, XuKa Homestay, Thong Xanh Medicinal Homestay, Van The Gaden... in Thuy Thanh, Duong Hoa are increasingly improving in both form and quality, attracting a large number of visitors to visit and experience. In particular, Van The Gaden has made many impressions on domestic and international tourists and is highly appreciated by travel agencies.
In the past 2 years, Huong Thuy community tourism has changed and developed significantly with the emergence of many creative tourism models and products related to agriculture, traditional crafts, etc., attracting tourists and students to visit and experience. Thereby, increasing the actual income for households, creating stable income for more than 120 workers in the area.
According to Ms. Cai Thi Duyen, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Huong Thuy Town, with the motto of promoting the strength and will of the community along with clear orientations and planning in developing community tourism, the People's Committee of Huong Thuy Town has and continues to direct specialized units to coordinate with localities to conduct field surveys and develop a plan for developing community tourism in the following years.
In reality, Huong Thuy tourism is still facing some problems, such as: unsynchronized infrastructure; limited natural potential compared to other localities; some tourist destinations have potential but there are no large enterprises investing in professional and systematic exploitation; being close to Hue City, the number of visitors staying is low, not stimulating investment activities in resort services - a type of tourism with high income - to develop as expected...
Ms. Cai Thi Duyen said that to solve the above problems, Huong Thuy has been combining many solutions based on 3 factors: planning, investment and operation. In particular, strictly implementing planning work, assessing environmental impacts for investment projects in tourist areas and spots; focusing on investment, completing transport infrastructure, accommodation facilities, restoring relics and especially paying attention to the management and operation stage to improve the effectiveness of tourism development.
In addition, we will invest in building new homestays, experience products, traditional occupations... with new and unique criteria to increase the experience and enjoyment for tourists; strengthen the training of professional tour guides and interpreters; invest in infrastructure such as parking lots and standard toilets; create conditions for tourism households to study models of other localities; connect with travel agencies to introduce, promote and advertise Huong Thuy tourism to domestic and international friends.
