On July 13, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (1947 - 2024), the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province and the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate the Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Martyr Vu Van Hieu - the first Secretary of the Special Zone Party Committee of Quang Ninh Mining Area at the memorial site of comrade Vu Van Hieu in Hai Anh commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province.
With infinite gratitude, the provincial delegation respectfully bowed to commemorate the great contributions and expressed their sincere gratitude to the Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Martyr Vu Van Hieu - the first Secretary of the Special Zone Party Committee of Quang Ninh Mining Area - a steadfast communist soldier who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, for the communist ideal, for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Comrade Vu Van Hieu was born on March 20, 1907 in Hai Anh Commune, Hai Hau, Nam Dinh Province. In November 1929, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party and participated in activities at the Hon Gai Party cell. In April 1930, he was appointed Secretary of the Hon Gai - Cam Pha Coal Mine Party Committee. In October 1930, the First Central Party Conference decided to establish the Dong Trieu - Hon Gai - Cam Pha Coal Mine Special Zone Party Committee. Comrade Vu Van Hieu was appointed by the Central Committee as Secretary and became the first Secretary of the Quang Ninh Mining Zone Party Committee.
On February 9, 1931, he and nearly 70 cadres, party members and elite people of the Special Zone Party Committee were captured by the enemy and then exiled to Con Dao by the French colonialists. In November 1936, comrade Vu Van Hieu was released. He was assigned to assist General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu, and was then assigned to be in charge of the Party Central Office (the first Chief of the Central Office of our Party).
During the January 1940 terrorist attack by the enemy, comrade Vu Van Hieu and comrades Nguyen Van Cu, Le Duan... were arrested by the enemy at the Central Office. In early 1941, comrade Vu Van Hieu was exiled to Con Dao by the French colonialists for the second time and imprisoned with comrades Le Duan and Nguyen Van Linh. Before sacrificing himself in Con Dao prison in April 1942, he gave his only shirt to his comrades, wishing that it would be his last contribution to the Party and the person who received that shirt was comrade Le Duan, who later became the General Secretary of the Party.
On behalf of the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province and the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, wrote in the memorial book: Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Martyr Vu Van Hieu - the first Secretary of the Special Zone Party Committee of Quang Ninh Mining Area - a steadfast communist soldier who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, for the communist ideal, for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism, for the happiness of the people. He upheld the communist ideal and life "Living for the Party and dying without leaving the Party", forever a shining example for us to learn and follow.
Wishing to follow the path and ideals that comrade Vu Van Hieu and revolutionary predecessors have opened up, the Party Committee, government, armed forces, people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province, cadres, workers and laborers of the Coal industry are constantly striving to overcome all difficulties and challenges; promoting the will of self-reliance, solidarity, tradition and strength of "Discipline and Unity" to be determined to build Quang Ninh province to be increasingly rich, civilized and modern; building the Coal industry to become a model for other economic sectors; the people are increasingly prosperous, peaceful and happy.
