Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Ha Van Thang, Director of Lao Cai Department of Tourism, said that last week, the cold weather caused the number of tourists to Sapa to increase.

According to Mr. Thang, this is a good sign for Lao Cai tourism in the recovery phase after suffering the consequences of floods and landslides last September.

Mr. Thang added that in the coming days, the cold air in Lao Cai will increase, the temperature will drop sharply, there is a possibility of ice and snow, and the number of visitors is expected to increase even more.

In 2024, Lao Cai tourism industry strives to achieve the target of welcoming 8.5 million visitors, however, at present, the estimated number will only reach 7.5 million visitors.

According to the People's Committee of Sapa town, the local tourism industry still maintains the target of welcoming 4.5 million visitors and tourism workers here are hoping to revive the tourism industry in the last two months of this year.
