On the evening of December 6, at Conference Center 25B (Thanh Hoa City), the Provincial Ethnic Committee and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Farmers' Association jointly organized a Forum to exchange outstanding farmers in successful creative startups and developing household economies in ethnic minority and mountainous areas (EM&M) in 2024, with the participation of 338 delegates of outstanding farmers from EM&M.

In recent years, despite facing many difficulties and challenges; however, with the timely and close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, the drastic and flexible direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the efforts of all levels, sectors and people of ethnic minorities in the ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the close coordination between the Farmers' Association at all levels and the ethnic minority agencies at the same level, the economic development of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas has received attention. Thereby, it has contributed significantly to improving the material and spiritual life of the people, maintaining political security, national defense and security, and building a strong political system. However, the creative startup movement in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in particular still faces many difficulties and challenges and needs specific support solutions.

Specifically, at the forum, comrade Le Minh Hanh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee, shared ethnic policies for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas, the results achieved in implementing the socio-economic development target program in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, phase 1 from 2021-2025 in Decision No. 1719/QD-TTg dated October 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister deployed in Thanh Hoa province. In particular, the coordination between the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and specialized agencies to support ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in starting businesses and developing household economy.
Comrade Vu Tien Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association shared the results achieved in the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably"; some typical good production and business models of mountainous districts for delegates to exchange and learn experiences in building and replicating the model; activities to support farmers in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to develop the economy, start-up and establish a business that the Provincial Farmers' Association has been implementing. Thereby contributing to creating motivation to successfully implement the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

At the forum, Mr. Ha Huy Giap, a farmer member, Don village branch, Thanh Lam commune, Ba Thuoc district, shared the economic model of a hill forest farm combined with eco-tourism and homestay; Mr. Pham Van Tinh, village 4, Tho Son commune, Trieu Son district, shared his entrepreneurial journey. Mr. Tinh used to be a teacher and switched to economic development by raising earthworms, breeding eels, raising wild boars, raising specialty fish... organic production associated with environmental protection; Mr. Bui Anh Kieu, a farmer member of Thanh Tam commune, shared the story of intensive fruit tree cultivation, establishing Thanh Tam guava cooperative, Thach Thanh district; Mr. Thao A Thai, a farmer member of Trung Ly commune, Muong Lat district, a son of Mong ethnic people in Ta Com village, shared his efforts to rise up, develop household economy such as raising buffaloes and cows, planting production forests and helping people stabilize their lives and actively work in production.
