Priceless support

Ho Duong Phuong Thao (born in 2003, living in Buon Ho town, Dak Lak province) is the youngest child in a farming family. Her brother and Thao were raised by their parents' hard work, from growing pepper, coffee, durian to raising bees for honey.

More motivation to overcome difficulties

Thao’s house is quite far from the city center, with limited development conditions. Around where she lives are villages, mostly inhabited by the Ede ethnic group. Many children here drop out of school early to help adults with farming. Fortunately, Thao’s parents, despite their difficulties, still prioritize their children’s education.

Với Trung Hiếu, tình thương vô bờ của mẹ luôn là ngọn lửa thắp sáng hành trình của anh

For Trung Hieu, his mother's boundless love is always the fire that lights up his journey.

Thao's family's income is very unstable, the harvest season is just enough to eat, the planting months are often short, sometimes having to borrow money to pay for raw materials and seeds. Thao's mother often tells her children about her burning desire in her youth to get a good education, but had to leave it unfinished because of poverty. Loving her mother, the two brothers are determined to study hard. Thao's older brother - Ho Quang Thang (born in 2001) does not want his parents to have more burdens, so he decided to go to work, save money for a whole year after graduating from high school and then go to university. Phuong Thao was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics. Coming to a large and unfamiliar city for the first time, and being infected with COVID-19 and having to be quarantined made Thao feel sad. However, she always told herself to be strong to overcome difficulties and challenges. She set a tight schedule, took the opportunity to find extra work to cover living expenses while still having good academic results, receiving a scholarship from the school. Cherishing the opportunity to be in the lecture hall, she actively participated in many activities, academic competitions and "collected" countless awards. Although studying far from home, Thao and Thang still have a close connection with their family through a common chat group on social networks, sharing their joys and sorrows. "I proactively returned to my hometown as soon as possible. Receiving encouragement from my parents and talking to them every day gave me more motivation to overcome difficulties. My parents also felt more secure about my brother and I" - Thao said.

This year's Vietnamese Family Day, June 28, will be a memorable milestone for the whole family. Thao and her brother constantly text and call each other to discuss preparing gifts for their parents. Next, in early July, the family members will have the opportunity to reunite in Da Nang to celebrate Quang Thang's graduation from Dong A University in Information Technology.

Everyone grows up

Nguyen Trung Hieu (from Dong Nai) has gone through many challenges but did not allow himself to be discouraged.

When Hieu was in high school, his father chose his own path and was no longer with his mother and son. Although they did not contact each other often and were taken care of by his father, Hieu never complained. His strong support was his hard-working mother. From the age of 12, Hieu started looking for a job to support his mother. At the age of 24, he soon realized that he needed knowledge to escape poverty and help others. Hieu has a spirit of hard work and perseverance. His single mother, who had thousands of hardships, never complained, but instead silently accompanied and supported her son. The shy student of the past is now a third-year accounting student and an intern for a company in Ho Chi Minh City. Educated by his mother's strictness and love, Hieu always has a positive attitude towards life. Recently, the young man invited his mother to celebrate receiving a scholarship. What seems simple to other families is a special moment for the mother and son. Normally, Hieu, like many young people of the same age, rarely expresses his feelings to his relatives, because of shyness, not to mention the generation gap. However, when he realized that "all adults must grow old, and all children must also grow up", Hieu cherished his parents even more and told himself to continue to strive, not only to live well for himself but also to nurture the warmth of his family, bringing happiness and pride to his relatives.
