According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in June 2024, the country imported 288.14 tons of wheat, equivalent to 81.45 million USD, with an average price of 282.7 USD/ton, down 46% in volume, down 42.3% in value compared to May 2024 but the price increased by 6.9%. Compared to June 2023, it decreased sharply by 35.6% in volume, down 45.8% in value and down 15.9% in price.
In the first 6 months of 2024, the country's total wheat imports reached over 3.12 million tons, equivalent to nearly 862.33 million USD, up 25.9% in volume, but down 3.3% in value compared to the first 6 months of 2023, with an average price of 276 USD/ton, down 23.3%.

In June 2024, wheat imports from the main market Brazil continued to decrease sharply by 88.9% in volume and 88.7% in value compared to May 2024, but prices increased slightly by 1.5%, reaching 20,416 tons, equivalent to 5.11 million USD; while in June 2023, there were no imports from this market.
In the first 6 months of 2024, wheat imports from the Brazilian market accounted for 36.8% of the total volume and 33.3% of the total wheat import turnover of the whole country, reaching over 1.15 million tons, equivalent to 287.37 million USD, with an average price of 249.8 USD/ton, an increase of 339.8% in volume, an increase of 200% in turnover but a decrease of 31.8% in price compared to the first 6 months of 2023.
Behind the main market Brazil is the Australian market, accounting for 20.7% of the total volume and 23.3% of the total turnover, reaching 646,844 tons, equivalent to over 201 million USD, with an average price of 310.8 USD/ton, down 64% in volume, down 68% in turnover and down 11.1% in price compared to the first 6 months of 2023.
Next, the Ukrainian market reached 545,052 tons, equivalent to 141.52 million USD, price 259.6 USD/ton, accounting for 17.5% of the total volume and 16.4% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, up 901.9% in volume, up 681.2% in turnover but down 22% in price.
Wheat imports from the US market reached 226,157 tons, equivalent to 74.54 million USD, priced at 329.6 USD/ton, up 31.8% in volume, up 6% in value but down 19.5% in price compared to the first 6 months of 2023.
