Rice price today April 2: Rice continues to increase strongly

Rice prices today, April 2, 2025, in the Mekong Delta region fluctuated. The market has a small amount of rice, some raw rice and fresh rice products continued to increase sharply compared to the beginning and end of the week.

Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, currently OM 380 raw rice increased by 50 VND/kg, fluctuating at 7,750 - 7,850; 5451 raw rice increased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating at 9,100 - 9,200/kg; IR 504 raw rice fluctuated at 7,900 - 8,000 VND/kg; 5451 raw rice fluctuated at 8,600 - 8,750/kg; OM 380 finished rice fluctuated at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

As for by-products, the price of by-products ranges from 6,600 - 9,000 VND/kg. Currently, broken rice 3-4 ranges from 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg; bran price ranges from 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

Recorded in localities today, the amount of arrival is small, warehouses continue to buy fragrant rice, rice prices increase depending on the type. In An Giang, the amount is better, many warehouses give higher prices for good rice. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the amount is small, warehouses buy regularly, prices fluctuate slightly.

Sa Dec market canal (Dong Thap), the quantity is small, the market warehouse buys regularly with fragrant sticky rice, the price is relatively stable. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), the quantity is sporadic, the buying and selling transactions are slower, the price fluctuates little.

At retail markets, the prices of all types of rice remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates at VND15,000 - 16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuates at VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Huong Lai rice fluctuates at VND22,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at VND18,000 - 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice fluctuates at VND22,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice fluctuates at VND21,000/kg; common white rice fluctuates at VND17,000/kg; Soc regular rice fluctuates at VND18,000/kg; Soc Thai rice is priced at VND21,000/kg; Japanese rice is priced at VND22,000/kg.

Similar to rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current price of OM 5451 rice (fresh) increased by 300 VND/kg, fluctuating between 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; the price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) increased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating between 5,600 - 5,700 VND/kg; the price of Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuated between 6,550 - 6,650 VND/kg; the price of Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg; the price of OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg; the price of OM 380 rice (fresh) fluctuated between 5,500 - 5,800 VND/kg.

In many localities today, the supply is low, but the buying and selling transactions are steady. In Kien Giang, the supply of rice is still low, farmers offer prices depending on the rice, so the buying and selling transactions are slow. In An Giang, farmers offer high prices, but traders are absent, so new transactions are slow.

In Bac Lieu, farmers' rice prices are high, demand for rice is steady, prices tend to increase. In Dong Thap, rice transactions are steady, mainly fragrant rice, prices of all types are relatively stable. In Soc Trang, the remaining rice supply is in some districts, rice prices are high, most traders have made deposits.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today are relatively stable compared to the beginning of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 399 USD/ton, 25% broken rice is at 370 USD/ton (up 1 USD/ton); 100% broken rice is at 325 USD/ton.
