Ms. Le My Ai Linh - Acting Director of the Center for Journalism Culture, Vietnam Journalists Association said that the Vietnam Journalists Association Cup Table Tennis Tournament is organized to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere, encourage and motivate the movement of practicing and competing in sports, contributing to improving the health of journalists nationwide, enhancing exchanges and mutual understanding between press agencies, and at the same time discovering excellent players in the press industry.
As of December 1, 2023, the 16th Vietnam Journalists Association Cup Table Tennis Tournament - 2023 had: 40 registered delegations with 190 athletes participating in the competition, including: 155 male athletes, 35 female athletes.

The 16th Vietnam Journalists Association Cup Table Tennis Tournament - 2023 is organized with 14 competitions: Men's team: No age distinction; Women's team: No age distinction; Men's singles from 45 years old and above; Men's singles under 45 years old; Women's singles from 45 years old and above; Women's singles under 45 years old; Men's leader singles and Women's leader singles: No age distinction, for athletes who are heads, deputy heads, former heads of press agencies, press managers, Journalists Association levels, Departments, Bureaus and equivalent levels of press agencies, press management agencies; Men's doubles: No age distinction; Women's doubles: No age distinction; Mixed doubles: From 45 years old and above; Mixed doubles: Under 45 years old; Men's doubles with leaders and Women's doubles with leaders: No age distinction, in 2 competing athletes, 1 athlete is a leader.
As an annual tournament for non-professional athletes who are members of the Vietnam Journalists Association or those working in press agencies, the Organizing Committee has a regulation that table tennis players at the master level and national level I from 2018 onwards can only participate in team competitions; table tennis players at the master level and national level I from 2018 onwards are not allowed to participate in the competition.
Competition format: Teams compete in Swaythling format with 5 single matches (A- X, BY, CZ, AY, BX); Doubles, singles: 5-game matches with 3 wins. Depending on the number of athletes participating in each event, the Organizing Committee will decide whether to compete in a knockout or round-robin format.
The Organizing Committee will award trophies, flags, medals, and cash prizes to teams, pairs, and individuals who win first, second, and third prizes in each competition category. The total prize value is 119,000,000 VND, excluding secondary prizes.
The tournament will be held from December 13 to December 15, 2023 at Trinh Hoai Duc Gymnasium, 12 Trinh Hoai Duc, Dong Da, Hanoi.
