Class 10 of the Gifted High School's Chemistry major had the highest admission score of 33 points, nearly 2 points higher than last year.

On the morning of June 12, the Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University, announced the exam scores and admission scores for specialized 10th grade classes (by subject) and interdisciplinary specialized classes.

Leading the admission score for grade 10 is the Chemistry specialized class with 33 points. Next are the English and Math specialized classes with 31.6 and 30.7 points, respectively. The admission scores for other specialized classes range from 22.5 to 29. The Computer Science specialized class has the lowest admission score.

The benchmark scores for interdisciplinary specialized classes range from 22.5 to 28.5. Compared to last year, the benchmark scores for 2023 at the Gifted High School have not fluctuated much.

The admission score is the sum of the three exams Math, English, Literature with coefficient 1 and the specialized subject exam with coefficient 2. All exams are calculated on a 10-point scale.

Each admission group (TH) includes three non-specialized subjects and one corresponding specialized subject, specifically: TH1 - Specialized Mathematics, TH2 - Specialized Physics, TH3 - Specialized Chemistry, TH4 - Specialized Biology, TH5 - Specialized Informatics, TH6 - Specialized Literature, TH7 - Specialized English.

Successful candidates must confirm their admission online from June 17 to 21, and submit their application directly to the school from June 25 to 28. Candidates who wish to have their exam scores reviewed must submit their application from June 12 to 14, with results expected to be announced on June 27.

This year, more than 3,000 candidates took the entrance exam to the Gifted High School on May 26 and 27. With a target of 17 classes with 595 students, only one out of five candidates passed the exam, a competition ratio of 1/5.2. This is the school's highest competition ratio in the past 5 years.

Of which, 9 specialized classes enroll 315 students, including: Math, English - two classes for each subject; Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Literature - one class for each subject. Each class has no more than 35 students, studying at facility 1 in District 5.

Eight specialized classes by field (6 specialized classes in natural sciences and technology; 2 specialized classes in social sciences), total quota of 280 students, studying at campus 2, Ho Chi Minh City National University urban area, Thu Duc City.

High School for the Gifted is a specialized school under Ho Chi Minh City National University. This year, this is the only school in Ho Chi Minh City to organize its own entrance exam, independent of the 10th grade exam of the Department of Education and Training.
