The Ha Tinh Health Department warned that dengue fever could become more complicated and occur earlier than in previous years. Therefore, localities need to proactively take timely prevention and control measures.
Health workers monitor mosquito larvae density in households.
Although it is only the beginning of June, Ha Tinh has detected 22 cases of dengue fever, including 17 domestic cases and 5 imported cases. Although the cases appear sporadically and have not yet formed an epidemic, if the authorities at all levels and the people are subjective, negligent, and do not take drastic measures to prevent and control the epidemic, it is very easy for a large epidemic to occur and be difficult to control.
Doctor Tran Huy Nghia - Director of Cam Xuyen District Medical Center said: "Since the beginning of the year, 6 cases of dengue fever have been detected in Cam Xuyen district. When cases were detected, the unit quickly coordinated with the health station and local authorities to promptly intervene, isolate, monitor and drastically implement epidemic control measures to prevent the spread and formation of epidemics."
It is known that in addition to Cam Xuyen, other localities also detected cases such as: Ky Anh district 6 cases, Thach Ha 5 cases, Loc Ha 2 cases, Huong Khe 1 case, Ha Tinh city 1 case, Can Loc 1 case.
People still have the habit of leaving unnecessary water containers, creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
According to the provincial Center for Disease Control, this year, the weather is forecast to be hot and rainy, creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes to develop, leading to the risk of spreading dengue fever. It is very likely that the dengue fever epidemic situation in some localities in the province will have complicated and unpredictable developments and occur earlier than previous years if timely prevention and control measures are not taken.
Master Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control said: "Dengue fever is a dangerous infectious disease that spreads rapidly if not controlled. The disease has some initial symptoms such as: high fever, fatigue, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle pain, often accompanied by sore throat, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain and diarrhea...
The disease is mainly transmitted through blood by mosquito bites, so if the disease is not detected and treated promptly, the epidemic will tend to increase. The dangerous thing is that up to now, there is still no vaccine to prevent the disease and no specific treatment."
The provincial Center for Disease Control monitors disease vectors in Ky Nam commune (Ky Anh town).
According to recommendations from the health sector, to effectively prevent and control dengue fever, in addition to the efforts of the health sector, it requires the cooperation of departments, sectors and organizations, especially the awareness of each citizen.
Actively preventing and controlling the epidemic, especially destroying disease vectors, is still an important strategy in the current work of preventing dengue fever. In particular, we must best implement the motto "no Aedes mosquitoes, no larvae, no dengue fever".
The Provincial Center for Disease Control worked with the Ky Anh Town Medical Center on the implementation of dengue fever prevention and control.
Because there is no vaccine for dengue fever, the best way to avoid getting sick is for people to proactively clean their houses and gardens; turn over unnecessary water containers; kill larvae and mosquitoes; sleep under mosquito nets and wear long-sleeved clothes to prevent mosquito bites.
For patients with symptoms of fever, cough, headache, body aches... they need to go to medical facilities for diagnosis and treatment, do not take medicine on their own; if not treated promptly and properly, it will cause dangerous complications, even death.
