Phuong Liet Communal House National Monument

Phuong Liet Communal House worships the village's tutelary god Cao Son Dai Vuong and Tich Lich Hoa Quang.

Phuong Liet communal house is also known as Giap Cuu communal house or Nom name is Vong communal house.

The communal house is built in the Southeast direction and adjacent to the residential area of ​​Phuong Liet street and opposite Phuong Liet ward People's Committee.

Phuong Liet village (Vong village) formerly belonged to Hoang Mai commune, Thanh Tri district, Thuong Tin prefecture, Son Nam Thuong town. In the 3rd year of Dong Khanh (1888), Phuong Liet belonged to Hoang Mai commune, Hoan Long district, Hanoi province, later belonged to Phuong Liet ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi city.

Phuong Liet Communal House worships the village's tutelary god Cao Son Dai Vuong and Tich Lich Hoa Quang (Hoa Quang ton than). Cao Son's name is Nguyen Hien (Hien cong), along with his younger brother Nguyen Sung (Sung cong), he is the second god in the Three Saints of Tan Vien Mountain who have made many contributions to helping people prevent natural disasters and fight foreign invaders. Tich Lich Hoa Quang has the ability to summon wind and rain, so he was appointed by King Hung as Tich Lich Than Vuong and given the mission of suppressing demons who harassed the people.

Phuong Liet Communal House consists of many items: Nghi Mon pillar, Ta Mac, Dai Dinh with the shape of the letter "nhat" (一) and some auxiliary architectural works behind with a system of yards and gardens surrounding the relic site.

The main hall was built in the style of a 5-bay gable wall, 2 sloping roofs covered with ri tiles. Inside, the wooden architecture is unified in the style of an upper frame with overlapping beams and lower beams on a 4-row plan of columns. The decorative motifs are simple. In the middle of the main hall, there is an incense table, on which are placed the worship objects and the tablet of the village's tutelary god. Phuong Liet communal house still preserves many antiques such as bronze censer, candlestick, incense bowl, etc. The communal house was built a long time ago and has undergone many renovations.

On the left of the communal house is the Ta Mac house, a longitudinal house with 3 rooms, 2 tiled roofs, where offerings are prepared for the Thanh Hoang.

Phuong Liet Communal House is also a typical revolutionary and resistance relic of Hanoi city. Before the August Revolution, Phuong Liet Communal House was a revolutionary base, a place for secret activities and the development of a Viet Minh cell. The Communal House was also a communications station, receiving documents for the propaganda of the Viet Minh Front. On August 19, 1945, at the communal house yard, the Viet Minh cell gathered forces, organized a rally, and declared the seizure of power. The two houses of the communal house, Ta Huu Mac, were then used as the working headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Committee, and later the headquarters of the Provisional Resistance Committee.

During the 9 years of resistance against French colonialism, Phuong Liet communal house was a place for traveling, hiding weapons and revolutionary documents; a place for training, meetings, and transferring cadres to the inner city to operate.

In 1993, Phuong Liet communal house was ranked as a historical and architectural relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The communal house was also given the title of Revolutionary and Resistance Monument by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2010.

Every year, on the fourteenth and fifteenth of February, Phuong Liet villagers from all over return and enthusiastically celebrate the Spring Festival.

The Spring Festival of Phuong Liet Communal House in the year of At Ty 2025 will take place in 2 days, March 13-14, 2025, with the participation of 11 original sects of Phuong Liet village and visitors from all over. The festival includes activities such as: Opening ceremony, flag and drum dance, worship, cultural and sports activities, entertainment games... Especially the Spring Festival on the main festival day of the 15th day of the second lunar month, with the participation of male and female worship teams...
