The spirit of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is to be direct, responsible, public, and strictly handle groups and individuals related to the quality of meals for students studying national defense, ensuring the rights of students.

In response to information from some new students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology reflecting to the press about the quality of meals during the 2 weeks of National Defense and Security Education at the school not being guaranteed, on October 8, Hanoi University of Science and Technology provided information on this issue.

Upon receiving information that some students said they saw cockroaches and foreign objects in their food, and that leftover rice and soup from tables would be collected and poured into a pot to continue to be distributed to groups of students who came later, the leaders of Hanoi University of Science and Technology conducted a comprehensive inspection of the students' meals and lodging at the Faculty of National Defense and Security Education, and convened a meeting of relevant parties to clarify the matter.

During the inspection, the working group noted that some information reported by the press was true. Although the catering unit provided an explanation, it was not convincing enough, for example, they had not received direct feedback from students studying here about food hygiene; no cases of food poisoning had been recorded through the Polytechnic Medical Center; new staff did not understand the regulations.

Immediately after learning about the situation, the Board of Directors of Hanoi University of Science and Technology directed timely handling. The spirit of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is to be direct, responsible, public and strictly handle related groups and individuals, ensuring the rights of learners.

On the afternoon of October 7, the contract with the current food supplier for new students studying National Defense and Security Education was terminated. In addition, Hanoi University of Science and Technology continued to request relevant parties to clarify and thoroughly handle the matter.

At the same time, Hanoi University of Science and Technology would like to apologize and hope to receive sympathy and sharing from parents and students. The school always hopes to receive comments and contributions to improve its activities.

According to regulations, all first-year students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology must take the subject of National Defense and Security Education. The cost of accommodation is 1,630,000 VND. During the 2 weeks of study, students will live and study together in the school's military area.
