Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai said that over the past half century, Mr. Botz László and Mr. Váraljai Márton have tirelessly devoted themselves to the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Hungary.

As a Lieutenant General, Mr. Botz László was a member of the first Hungarian group in the International Control and Supervision Commission implementing the Paris Agreement in 1973, making an important contribution to the historic victory on April 30, 1975.

Mr. Váraljai Márton is a veteran diplomat who has worked for decades at the Hungarian Embassy in Vietnam, serving as Consul and Deputy Ambassador, becoming one of the people with deep understanding of the country and people of Vietnam and a loyal friend of Vietnam.

Not only stopping at their past contributions, today, at the age of over seventy, the two men are still tirelessly cultivating the friendly relationship between the two nations. As leaders of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association, they have organized many cultural exchange activities, connecting businesses, scholars, and localities of the two countries, accompanying the Vietnamese community in Hungary, thereby deepening the understanding and mutual respect between the people of the two countries.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized: “The two gentlemen are not only loyal friends of Vietnam but also a solid bridge between the two peoples. Their contributions have been helping to spread the image of Vietnam widely in Hungary, while strengthening the foundation of sustainable cooperation between the two countries.”

The Ambassador affirmed that the Friendship Medal is not only a recognition of the Vietnamese State for the tireless efforts of the two gentlemen, but also a symbol of deep gratitude from millions of Vietnamese hearts for the devoted and loyal Hungarian friends of whom the two gentlemen are typical representatives.
