On March 25, 26, and 27, the Ministry of Education and Training organized the National Team Selection Exam to compete in the 2025 International and Regional Olympics. This year's exam had the participation of 187 candidates from provinces and cities across the country, with 5 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics.
The exam results are as follows:
1. Mathematics : 6 candidates were selected to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
2. Physics : 8 candidates were selected to participate in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
3. Chemistry : 4 candidates were selected to participate in the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO).
4. Biology : 4 candidates were selected to participate in the International Biology Olympiad (IBIO).
5. Informatics : 15 candidates were selected to participate in the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO).
The national team selection exam for international and regional Olympic competitions is held to discover and nurture young talents, representing Vietnam in international competitions. The achievements of the candidates not only affirm the quality of Vietnam's leadingeducation but also create motivation for the movement of studying and scientific research among students nationwide.
The Ministry of Education and Training will continue to coordinate with relevant units to organize intensive review and training activities to help students best prepare for upcoming international and regional Olympic competitions.
To be selected, candidates had to pass two rounds of exams. The first was the national excellent student exam with nearly 6,500 candidates. Then, the 187 students with the best results were called by the Ministry to the second round, which took place over three days, March 25-27.
In this year's list, the largest number of students are from the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , VNU - 9 students. Next are students from schools under the Department of Education and Training (4), Nghe An (3), Hue (3) and Bac Ninh (3).
Detailed list of candidates in the Olympic team representing Vietnam to participate in regional and international competitions in 2025:
Regional and international Olympic competitions usually take place in July and August. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, 37 students participating in the Olympic team will be exempted from the high school graduation exam and will go straight to university.
If they win medals, they will be rewarded with Gold - Silver - Bronze prizes ranging from 55 million - 35 million VND - 25 million VND respectively. In addition, localities have their own reward policies, up to hundreds of millions of VND.
In 2024, Vietnam had 38 students competing in regional and international Olympics, all of whom won prizes with 12 gold medals, 15 silver medals, 10 bronze medals and one certificate of merit.
