(Dan Tri) - People's Council delegates of Nghe An province proposed to research and name Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue Vo Nguyen Giap.

Within the framework of the question and answer session of the 25th session of the 18th People's Council of Nghe An province, on the morning of December 6, delegate Tran Ngoc Son (group of delegates from Tan Ky district, Nghe An) expressed his opinion on the road named after General Vo Nguyen Giap.

According to Mr. Son, in the past, the People's Council of Nghe An province has issued many resolutions on naming streets, including Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue. If this name is kept, it will only include the place of departure and arrival.

General Vo Nguyen Giap, the eldest brother of the Vietnam People's Army, a brilliant politician and military man, was the son-in-law of Nghe An. Therefore, delegate Son proposed to name Vinh - Cua Lo street Vo Nguyen Giap Boulevard.

Regarding this opinion, Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture - Sports of Nghe An, said that currently the name of General Vo Nguyen Giap is in the "bank" of street names of the Department of Staff for the People's Committee of Nghe An province.

After Cua Lo town merges into Vinh city, the Department of Culture and Sports will advise the People's Committee of Nghe An province to name a part of Vinh - Cua Lo boulevard Vo Nguyen Giap street.

Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard was approved for planning in 2010, connecting Vinh city with Cua Lo town. After many years of extension, on August 29, the avenue officially opened to traffic.

The road is 10.8km long, with a total investment of over VND2,800 billion, and a scale of 12 lanes. This is currently considered the widest and most modern road in Nghe An province.

The operation of Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard will create a traffic axis quickly connecting the two urban areas, which is of great significance in forming an architectural space axis, expanding urban planning, completing the traffic network, creating a basis for attracting construction investment, and promoting socio-economic development of the whole region.

From December 1, Cua Lo town officially merged into Vinh city. Thus, on the administrative map of this province with the largest area in Vietnam, there is no longer a district-level administrative unit named Cua Lo.
