Mr. Luu Hoan Thanh, General Director of Indopetrol Lubricants Company, commented that the remarkable development of science and technology, the change of technology in all fields is happening very quickly. Therefore, most enterprises have the need for continuous retraining to update the knowledge and skills of their workforce.
"Retraining will help businesses save on recruitment costs, while helping employees improve their qualifications and skills, thereby increasing labor productivity. There are two forms: short-term and long-term," said Mr. Thanh.

Regarding the long-term retraining form of a few months, Mr. Thanh believes that colleges and intermediate schools will be more suitable and effective; especially when lecturers and experts from enterprises participate in the training. Knowledge will be systematically linked from basic to advanced.
Mr. Truong Ngoc Hoang, Director of Festo VN Company, also recognized that retraining and advanced training for workers is very necessary in the current context. "This is a potential training market that not many vocational schools have been able to take advantage of due to some problems and limitations," Mr. Hoang assessed.
As a school specializing in tourism training, Master Ngo Thi Quynh Xuan, Principal of Saigon College of Tourism, believes that not only tourism but all workers in other fields have the need to retrain and study to improve their professional skills to be able to work in this context of many opportunities and challenges.
Dr. Pham Huu Loc, Principal of Ly Tu Trong College, also stated that the need for businesses to retrain, improve training, and supplement skills for employees and workers is very large.
According to Master Ngo Thi Quynh Xuan, to be able to participate in training in this field, vocational schools must understand the market, regularly update new knowledge and skills, understand what businesses and workers need. In particular, they must keep up with reality, know how to intelligently apply artificial intelligence to training...
To understand businesses, Dr. Phan Thi Hai Van, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City College of Technology, said that vocational schools need to send lecturers to the field to know what businesses need and on the other hand, this is also an opportunity for lecturers to access new equipment and technology at businesses, from there, research and develop training topics that closely follow the needs of businesses in the direction of approaching new technology...
From the perspective of enterprises, Mr. Truong Ngoc Hoang believes that if vocational schools do not invest in modern, advanced equipment that keeps up with the actual technology in enterprises and teachers do not equip themselves with practical knowledge and skills with interdisciplinary thinking and lifelong learning, they will not be able to retrain and improve their workers. "To do so, schools must proactively connect with enterprises to have this potential customer base. This is also a way to significantly increase the revenue for schools. If vocational schools do not seize the opportunity, domestic and foreign private companies have, are and will dominate this market," Mr. Hoang stated his opinion.
Faced with this reality, the General Department of Vocational Education (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) has sent a document to vocational education institutions on organizing training, retraining, and improving qualifications and vocational skills for workers in new occupations and new skills.
Accordingly, improving the qualifications and vocational skills of workers, especially in key economic areas and regions with a high concentration of industrial parks and export processing zones, is one of the key tasks set by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs for the vocational education sector in 2024.
"Millions of workers working in companies, factories, enterprises... need to learn new knowledge and skills to continue working or to develop their careers. Vocational schools need to change and become more dynamic to grasp this opportunity both now and in the future," shared Dr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vocational Education.
