Students of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) were happy after finishing the math exam.
Math score prediction ranges from 6.5 to 7
From the content and requirements of the high school graduation exam in math, Mr. Lam Vu Cong Chinh, a teacher at Nguyen Du High School (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), commented that the exam had high differentiation but was still suitable for the goal of assessing high school graduation.
Questions from 1 to 35 are at a level of recognition and understanding so average and good students can do well.
Questions 36 to 40 are at the application level, requiring students to have a solid grasp of knowledge and analytical and synthetic thinking. In addition to the two pure spatial geometry questions, the remaining questions are at a high application level, focusing on knowledge related to functions, integrals, complex numbers, etc.
Compared to the 2024 sample exam, the 2024 official math exam is more difficult. Questions related to cones and cylinders only account for 2 questions at the level of recognition and understanding. This may be because this knowledge is not included in the 2018 General Education Program applied in the next school year.
2024 High School Graduation Math Exam Is Easier Than 2018!
The predicted math score range is from 6.5 to 7 and the number of candidates scoring 10 will not be many.
Similarly, Master Le Minh Huy, a teacher at Nguyen Hien High School (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City), commented that the exam structure is similar to the sample exam and the high school graduation exam in recent years. In which, the first 35 questions are at the level of understanding, most candidates will be able to do these questions. From question 36 onwards, the requirements are at the level of application, in which knowledge is spread evenly across all chapters.
The exam has a very clear differentiation, the application questions of this year's exam are much more difficult than the illustration questions and slightly more difficult than the 2023 high school graduation exam. Only really good candidates can do these groups of questions.
Teacher Le Minh Huy predicts that the score range will be concentrated at 6 to 7.5 points and there will be fewer exams at level 9 or higher than last year.
Difficult and strange
As for teacher Tran Tuan Anh, Thu Duc High School (HCMC), the exam closely follows the matrix (knowledge) of recent years with 45 questions from the 12th grade program and 5 questions from the 11th grade program. The content of the questions covers the entire 12th grade math program. The last questions require the mobilization of many knowledge units, belonging to different contents to solve. Compared to the 2023 high school graduation exam, this year's exam is more difficult and more unique. In which, from question 39 onwards are application and high application questions. From the structure according to difficulty, there will be many candidates achieving a score of 6. Scores of 9 or higher will not be as many as in recent years, because the difficulty and uniqueness of the following questions are more different. With this exam, scores from 0 to 4 are not many and scores of 10 will also be less than last year.
Commenting on the differentiation ability of the test, Mr. Tuan Anh said that the test is structured in increasing difficulty, so the score will be evaluated and met for graduation and university admission. To get points for admission to top universities or "hot" faculties, candidates need to do well on questions 38 and above. These questions have increasing difficulty, suitable for evaluating candidates when considering university admission.
