To bring OCOP products to the export market

From a small production facility, mainly consumed within the district, in 2020, Nguyen Lam traditional sesame rice paper products in Ky Giang commune, Ky Anh district were recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards.

In 2021, Nguyen Lam Production, Trade and Service Cooperative (Nguyen Lam Cooperative) was established with 7 members contributing capital, creating regular jobs for 15 workers with an average income of over 5 million VND/month.

To strengthen the OCOP product brand, Nguyen Lam Cooperative pays special attention to modernizing the production process, improving quality, food safety and hygiene, designing packaging and labels, and enhancing promotion and marketing. Thanks to that, the Cooperative's products are increasingly known to consumers, and its reputation is increasingly affirmed.

Up to now, Nguyen Lam sesame rice paper has been present in major markets such as Russia, Japan, Korea... In 2024, the cooperative will produce 6 million sesame rice paper, of which 20% will be exported, with revenue reaching over 10 billion VND.

Also in 2024, with the close direction and support of the district and the efforts of the cooperative members, Nguyen Lam sesame rice paper products were recognized by the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province as meeting 4-star OCOP standards.

Director of Nguyen Lam Cooperative Le Van Duan shared: “To achieve the results we have today, we must first mention the policy of building and developing OCOP products of the State, the active support and guidance of local authorities in terms of mechanisms, policies and guidance. The initial encouraging results are the motivation for the members of the Cooperative to continue to strive to expand production scale, improve quality, create breakthroughs in brand as well as product value. The goal of the Cooperative in the coming time is to focus on upgrading OCOP products, continuing to stabilize the domestic market, and expanding markets in European countries.”

Nguyen Lam Cooperative continues to seek and promote the expansion of the traditional sesame rice paper market to many countries around the world.

As a famous fish sauce brand in Ky Anh district and Ha Tinh, currently Phu Khuong fish sauce product of Phu Khuong Aquatic and Seafood Purchasing and Processing Cooperative, Ky Xuan commune is in the promotion stage to be recognized as the first 5-star OCOP product of Ha Tinh.

Produced using traditional methods combined with solar energy technology and an automatic bottling line system, Phu Khuong has produced delicious fish sauce, ensuring food hygiene and safety, and is popular in the market.

Every year, the cooperative purchases 350 - 400 tons of fish as raw materials for fish sauce production, with a scale of over 200,000 liters/year, with revenue reaching nearly 15 billion VND. Currently, the cooperative is creating regular jobs for 15 local workers with an income of 5-6 million VND/person/month and dozens of seasonal workers.

In addition to fish sauce, the main product that has achieved 4-star OCOP, Phu Khuong Seafood Purchasing and Processing Cooperative also produces and trades a number of other seafood products, including dried shrimp products, which have now achieved 3-star OCOP standards.

Every year, Phu Khuong Cooperative produces over 200 thousand liters of fish sauce.

Ms. Le Thi Khuong - Director of Phu Khuong Cooperative said: "With the conditions of facilities, equipment, production lines, staff capacity as well as product quality that have been confirmed, Phu Khuong fish sauce is ready to be considered for upgrading OCOP to 5 stars. Currently, the Cooperative is preparing all necessary conditions according to the requirements of relevant levels and sectors to upgrade the product in the soonest time.

Ms. Khuong also added: "Currently, the cooperative's products have not yet reached foreign markets. Therefore, the first thing we need to do after being upgraded to 5 stars is to focus on promoting and expanding the market, bringing Phu Khuong fish sauce to some countries in the region and Europe."

With the participation of the entire political system in implementing the OCOP Program, over the past time, Ky Anh district has built a supply chain of clean, organic agricultural products as raw materials for production, ensuring food safety conditions and product quality.

Up to now, the whole Ky Anh district has 28 OCOP products, including 4 4-star products and 24 3-star products, mainly in the food group. Regarding the management subjects, there are 17 cooperatives and cooperative groups, 11 households and production establishments. Most of the district's OCOP products have been traced, introduced and sold on the agricultural e-commerce platform https://nongsankyanh.com and many other trading platforms. Many products have been exported with stable output markets.

The construction and development of OCOP products plays a very important role in exploiting local agricultural products, promoting production development, increasing income, and contributing to building new rural areas.

Dung Nguyen cereal sprout tea (Ky Thu) is one of the OCOP products with potential to reach the export market.

To continue expanding and developing OCOP products in the area, in the coming time, the district will implement a number of key solutions, focusing on implementing the agricultural sector structure, focusing on developing advantageous products in the direction of goods, ensuring food safety and hygiene; linking production with promotion, introduction and branding for OCOP products; creating all conditions for organizations and individuals to register to build OCOP products and upgrade OCOP products. At the same time, the district will also actively support OCOP entities to promote and expand consumption markets, especially foreign markets.
