World Youth Orchestra performs in Vietnam for the first time

People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, said that from March 29 to April 12, for the first time, the World Youth Orchestra (WYO) will come to Vietnam to practice and perform with members of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAMYO).

Vietnam National Academy of Music is honored to be selected as a partner of WYO to co-organize and participate in the project "Sound of Brotherhood" and the World Youth Orchestra - WYO 2024 tour in Vietnam.

According to the schedule, conductor Damiano Guiranna and 45 members of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra and 25 members of the Youth Symphony Orchestra will practice and perform together for half a month.

Highlights include the concert "Thang Long Night" on the evening of April 6 at the Grand Concert Hall, Vietnam National Academy of Music, and the "Puccini Opera Gala" program taking place on April 10 at the Hanoi Opera House.

The two programs promise to bring to the capital's audience many classic instrumental works and outstanding performances by world-renowned composers such as P. Tchaikovsky, G. Rossini, G. Puccini and Vietnamese composers such as Dang Huu Phuc and Tran Manh Hung.

The diverse combination of young international artists from 20 countries promises to spread youthful, positive, energetic and creative energy to the wide audience of classical music lovers in Hanoi.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, shared that with a history of 68 years, the academy is currently the leading training, scientific research and performance institution in Vietnam with a large number of prestigious professors, pedagogues and artists nationwide.

Currently, selected students of the Vietnam National Academy of Music and international students and artists of WYO are actively practicing to prepare for the above event.

The World Youth Orchestra was founded in 2001 by Italian conductor Damiano Giuranna, and has welcomed more than 2,000 talented members from all continents, touring in many countries around the world.
